AI Superintelligence A Little From The Science Perspective
There's been a lot of talk on AI and I barely research on that but since science and technology go hand in hand, I'll probably bump into a lot about this particular topic.
There's a new special Word in AI and it's "superintelligence" I don't know her else these AI developers want but isn't calling it Artificial Intelligence enough, but I guess they look at the power and potential of the next phase of AI and they just had to add Super to it.
What exactly is superintelligence? I kind of gave you a clue in the paragraph above anyways but it's that advanced form of AI which might just surpass human capabilities. Of course when you look at the capabilities of AI today, some of the tools can do things I can't dream of doing like painting. Some of the paintings look like something Leonardo da Vinci would do. So to think of something more powerful is a serious matter in our hands in both a positive and negative way
If you want to create something that's more powerful than you, it's very similar to potentially creating a suicide tool. The minute we lose control over this kind of technology and things get out of hand, we're doomed.
Can it make it's own decisions in the future? That's where the developers are headed anyways. So if AI has control and determines how economies operate, another question I want to ask is, at that time, who's planet is it, humans or AI?
We are probably a long way from achieving this level of artificial intelligence. Most of the AI systems and Models right now only obey commands and handle specific tasks but don't have a mind of their own or control.
I'm a science guy so I'll think in the science perspective. The moment we can train AI to do what the scientists, researchers, surgeons and doctors do, Science will be left to AI to continue innovating. I think the companies that'll win are those managing the infrastructure for the AI to exist.
Speaking of, a lot of people are afraid of AI taking over but they forget that just as we have a body we dwell in that can be shutdown and we die, so do the AI too. They have to exist in a hardware which can be shutdown so I don't think the AI developers are stupid enough to not create a death switch just in case this gets out of hand
Although if the AI controls the death switch too then we're screwed for life.
