I hope we do not end up destroying ourselves with advancement of technology, the developing countries being at higher risk while those privileged at the height of technology constantly fighting for dominance and resources.

That is the tricky twist, at the long run the sole aim of advancement in technology changes from comfortability to pursuit of dominance.
