How Mammoths Went Extinct | About mammoth
The name mammoth is known in elephant evolution. Stegodon and Stegomastodon gave rise to the first typical elephants in the late Pliocene and early Pleistocene epochs. They were widespread in Asia and Europe. These elephants were known as mammoths.
The entire body is covered with black fur, suggesting that they were adapted to colder climates. Their heads were blunt and there were no molars in the lower jaw. The highest level of complications is seen in the teeth.
The molar teeth had many cusps. A variety of other elephant fossils found in the Pleistocene are recorded as mammoths. The typical representative of the mammoth is the snow-covered mammoth preserved in the natural glaciers of the Siberian tundra, all of which became extinct in the Pleistocene.
Although the mammoth was lost. In the present elephant originated from that mammoth.
