Technology is always improving. Its a given that data storage would also increase. The only problem is how fast and how cheap it will be released to the consumer. I think the corporations purposely delay the storage techniques to milk the most money out of the normal people.

That is true, even if they already have the latest technology, they release it in staggered fashion to maximize earnings.
