Sleep: My Escape From My Mobile Phone

The question asked in the weekly featured content on the Hive Learners Discord server asks about that one thing that will keep me away from my phone and how I have come to terms with it. The question is good because it only asks about one thing that can keep us away from our phones.

The first thing I would like to emphasize before I move on is how I feel, as if it's almost impossible to stay away from my phone. When I go to sleep, I stare at my phone as the last thing I do, and when I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is stare at it.

Although I sometimes feel like I am addicted to my phone, as long as it keeps sending me credit alerts, I enjoy the addiction. I also realize, though, that in everything we do in life, moderation is the key.

In the morning, after preparing my son for school and taking him to school, I had my bath and made a light breakfast and drank a cup of coffee. Taking the time to relax before starting work was a good idea for me. The energy I needed to get through the day was crucial.

As I planned on studying that morning, I intentionally drank coffee so I could study. Interesting, or should I say surprising, I fell asleep after finishing the coffee. I guess my body needed a rest. Or maybe I was too tired from the night before. Whatever the reason, I guess I'll blame it on the coffee!

During that period, I felt sleepy and eventually fell asleep, I couldn't even use my phone because I knew deep down that I needed sleep, it was so strange later at night when I noticed the caffeine starting to kick in, that's so wrong!

The coffee I took to stay alert during the day made me sleepy, but when it was time for me to sleep at night, the caffeine knew they had to begin their work.

Earlier today, I decided not to drink any coffee as I planned to study without coffee, but I was unable to resist my phone. I was checking several videos on Facebook, Tiktok, and Whatsapp. It felt as though the phone was always pulling me in, and I needed something to pull me away from that realm so that I could concentrate on the course I needed to study.

Guess what!! Sleep was the only thing that made me leave my phone that morning. I had to take a break from the screens and force myself to go to sleep.

Sleep seems to be the only thing that forces to to keep away from my phone. I'm so glad that I decided to sleep instead of staying on my phone. I felt much more refreshed and productive after waking up.

Do you now get the point of my story? In summary, sleep is the only thing that keeps me away from my phone.

Getting enough sleep allows me to recharge my mind and be prepared for any challenge or task that may come my way.

Lol this is so right and accurate for me too.
So long I'm awake, my phone hardly takes a break away from me 😅

I stare at my phone as the last thing I do, and when I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is stare at it.

I think we all do that part everyday lol 😂. Like it’s a basic thing in everyone’s life. Wow sleeping is another way of coping with it but doesn’t work for me 😅 glad to know that you have found out the right way.

Lol... Sleep is a very big Force.

I remember when I was in school and how we always plan to read very well in preparation for a test or an exam that's set to take place the next day. Even when you plan to do all that and when you know what is on the line, sleep usually has its way of having an upper hand.

The same thing applies to our usage of phones. I like to watch TV shows with my phone but whenever I feel sleepy, I end up dosing off even when the show is playing. Haha.

That shows how addictive phones can be if only sleep can keep us away from them. It makes me think that we are like fireflies buzzing around a bright light.

The phone is a tool that distracts us a lot, it makes us addicted to networks, games or who knows what other things, it has also happened to me, I wake up and immediately take the phone, but I have also learned to leave it aside for hours and share with my family, do other things. What is true is that when I don't have internet I feel disconnected, with nothing to do, that is also weird hahaha.

(Edited)

I made emphasis on this too, if there is one thing that can divert my attention from my phone it is sleep but these days my sleeping bundle seems to have expired because it is difficult to keep eyes close😅
