This initiative is part of a set of measures taken as a result of the covid-19 pandemic.
The delivery of the towels to the players was the responsibility of the ball pickers for many years, due to the pandemic this was eliminated, to avoid possible contagious.
Below is the 6" video placed on the official US Open account on Twitter today, where they make an montage with player Rafael Nadal.

Another breakthrough that emerged in late 2020 as a result of Covid-19 was the elimination of line judges, who were impersonated by Hawk-Eye Live.
It is clear that the incorporation of this technology has avoided and will continue to avoid any confusion that may exist in relation to the fate of the ball and the final decision of the judge of the match.
The pandemic definitely resulted in the urgent incorporation of many technological advances that could be used years ago in this sport and many others.

The question I share with you is:
How far will technological advances be incorporated into sports?

Greetings @ janettyanez, I liked your publication because I am a sports lover and one of my favorites is Tennis, I had not read that news I'm glad because I believe that technology is to help although it does not seem to many, for example 10 years ago our major league pitcher Armando Galarraga, was robbed of a Perfect Game by a bad decision of the first base umpire, hence now in baseball there is instant replay that can correct any error.

Excellent publication.

Greetings my friend. The incorporation of technology in sports is important, beyond the use of drones to avoid contagion I think it is wise to use the hawk eye to eliminate possible failures in the decision of the judges, something like the VAR (Video Assistant Referee) in soccer. Thanks for sharing the news.

Hi @emiliomoron

Alcon's Eye has time to use in tennis, but was limited for verification of plays.
More recently, it is set in place to minimize the number of people on the court through the replacement of line judges, attributing the advantage of certainty in decisions of the results of the plays.
Of course all this for the benefit of sport.
Thank you for your visit and your commentary.
Have a great day!

Wow, that's great though. For sports that would be a different ball game entirely, I bet they'll find ways to modify it to suit other sports as well.

Hello dear @janettyanez
Excellent example you share of technological advancement and sports, in the US Open Tennis 2021, with the delivery of the towel by drones, is surprising.
The pandemic by Covid 19, boosted the intensive use of technology in everything related to remote or virtual activities.
In relation to your question, there are multiple and infinite possibilities for the application of science in sports and other areas. We still have a lot to see.
Congratulations for this post, best regards.
Success and happy life

Hi @janettyanez no doubt the technology does not put to think about a future apparently governed by machines, it is amazing the inventiveness that human beings develop daily, how great it would be if these efforts would point to the goods and care of society in general. Thank you for your great contribution

In short, the covid-19 pandemic has generated more favorable economic results than real solutions to the health issue, business organizations in the technology sector have been developing this type of technologies to capitalize on these pandemic scenarios. Good post, greetings @janettyanez
