Berms are generally constructed with a combination of rocks, logs, clay, leaves and dirt. Plenty of different options besides that of course. Take it all with a grain of salt but I have spent a few decades now dealing with runoff and water management on various sites and I gotta say... try the simplest solutions first.

You are welcome. You are on the right track by first finding where the water is coming from and doing your best to understand the terrain.
