Hello Hive Learners Community!!!

I hope you're doing well and enjoying your day. This blog is my submission to Hive Learners Weekly Feature Content topic SMARTPHONE AGE for Week 167 Edition 01.

Without much ado let's begin it :

Smartphone is a modern invention that making revolutionary impact in our life. Smartphones connect, entertain, educate and spoil us at the same time. In this fast pacing and technology development era, the most important question is :

How young is too young for Smartphones?

Technology Temptations :

This world is a digital jungle. Evryone is busy in tapping their phone screen. Every notifications and screen glow fights for attention. Kids are growing up following TikTok and YouTube shorts. Phone addiction is real in every age.
My niece celebrated her 3rd birthday in March. She is kinda addicted too phone screen. She can survive with feeder but not without YouTube shorts. I am astonished to see her using Google Voice to get her favorite cartoons and YouTube shorts.
We all are worried because of her because it's harmful for her mental and physical growth. Obviously she is fast learner and learning lots of good things in YouTube shorts but in my opinion it's not right age for holding smartphones.

Haven't you heard about a toddler order thousands of dollars food from Foodpanda by tapping phone screen?

Now everyone is holding smartphone without any distinction of age. In my teenage I was not allowed to use keypad phone even. I get my first phone when I completed my Intermediate. There wasn't any kind of technologically temptation as compare to now. I wasn't aware of Facebook or Messenger before 2018.

Life Before and After My First Smartphone

_________________________________________
Life before my first smartphone had its own perks because I spent most of time with family, friend and was more focus in studies. But smartphone help me to learn new skill, entertain, and connect with others in every corner of the world. Smartphone is blessing but one should be vigilant about it use.

What Age Is "Right"?

I appreciate role technology is smoothing our daily life. Smartphones aren't evil. Social media isn't monster. But timing is everything. In my opinion the right age to have one's own phone is 16-17 years. Before that age child should be supervised by parents while they are using phone for educational purposes.

There are Digital Well Being Apps and features available in every phone that help parents to control the screen timing and appa kids use.

Let's protect our children from rushing into the digital maze too soon. Because sometimes, the best way to grow… is to disconnect.

Everything has to be done in a balanced way, balancing the evolution of technology but also balancing interpersonal and human relationships that are increasingly being lost in this era.

Of course the fact that a child knows how to operate a cellphone or smartphone doesn't mean they are liable to own one already. Everything needs to be handled with precision else the result could be disastrous
