Misusing the power of social media
We are living in a digital world, and social media is connected with us so deeply that thinking about life without social media is indeed difficult. Many of us are so addicted to social media that staying away for a long time is impossible.
Online social media has many advantages, and there is nothing to disagree with, but we also know very well that whenever there are advantages, there must be disadvantages at the same time. Online social media gives us the power to share everything we want. We have the freedom to share, and nobody can interrupt it unless it violates the rules of social media.
Every human is not the same, and each individual has a unique way to think about a single matter in different ways. This is very natural, and because of it, whenever we share something on social media, someone may not like it. It happens, and that is not the problem, but in recent times, people have started to criticize others when they don't like it or something goes against their own set principles. This thing reached such a place that it became very common, and many people are getting bullied or criticized by others. Even celebrities can't escape from it.
In current times, people have become selfish and only consider about their own. They don't think twice about criticizing others on social media. Somehow, they try to prove others wrong, and they are right. Everyone wants to win in the end, and to win, they cross their limit. Let me share one of the recent incidents on Facebook.
In my country, most people love cricket, and we are a little emotional when it's about cricket. One of the national team players was performing very badly, and naturally, most people got angry as it connected to our emotions. As a result, many people have started to create memes or posters using his picture. Till that point, I think it was okay. But after that, people started to create memes and posters using that player's wife's and mother's pictures, too. Can you understand the situation? It was a very embarrassing situation for the family of the cricket player. From one perspective, I can blame the player, and creating a meme using his picture was okay, but using his family members picture is kind of a limit crossing. I think the family member of that player has nothing to do with cricket. Wasn't it unreasonable? The most shocking thing is that people feel proud after doing such kind of shameless act, like they have made some huge contributions to the country.
It was just a real example, and in every field, there are millions of examples of it. I won't say that criticizing is a bad thing, but it should be done when it's necessary or in the right place. When someone does something wrong or shameless, criticizing makes sense and is beneficial for everyone, but meaningless criticism for winning or just for fun is dangerous because it can have a bad impact on one's life.
Based on my principle, social media is nothing more than an entertaining thing, and as long as it can entertain us, it's okay. I think we should not be serious in the case of online social media; otherwise, at the end, we may get hurt. The first thing is that social media is not giving us money (for most of us), and that means a waste of time. So, in my opinion, spending my precious time on such kind of nonsense criticism is not worthy. There are many ways to make my time productive. In the case of criticism, I think most of us cross our limits and misuse the power of social media. I can say it confidently, at least for my country, and most of the people are just wasting their time, as most of the people can't earn money from social media in my country.

Web 2 social media are a thing of the past for me (well, except Discord which I still use to date for Hive-related stuff, and X for airdrop thingy). And I agree that if one is not making a cent from his soc med activities then it's a waste of precious time.
I am also not active on the Web 2.0 platform but news automatically comes to my ear because some users around me are super active in Web 2.0. I believe that we shouldn't spend our precious time just for nothing.
