Changed through time
Time is the most powerful thing and with time many things change. It can be human behavior, thoughts, or something else. If I consider students as an example then obviously there are many differences between current time students and the students of the past. Some changes with time are good and some are bad. Some changes come automatically and some changes occur manually. Many factors can play a role in that case.
In the past, a student used to give huge respect to a teacher but in the current time most of the students don't respect the teachers and I don't think it's a good practice. Obviously, there are some reasons behind it. One reason is direct and another one is indirect. Both of the reasons combinely create significant impact and it naturally decreases the dignity of a teacher in the heart of a student.
In the past teachers used to teach students to make them educated and make students better human in the society. So the bond between the teacher and student was very strong and naturally respected the teacher. However, the mentality of teachers changed with time. Education has become like a business now and teaching also became like a business. Teachers are mostly focusing on how to make more money rather than thinking about how to make more quality students. Almost in every case related to education is highly related to finance. If you have more money then it's kind of like you are receiving the best education. Teacher and student relationships are becoming a business deal right now. We know it very well in business emotions should be ignored. In a business deal between teachers and students, there is nothing too much of a special bond. As a student is receiving education based on paying money as it became a business deal only, it makes students arrogant.
The indirect impact is the growing phase of the current generation, which means how they are growing up. In the current time hits are going up with mobiles, computers, and other technological devices and their interaction with others is very low where in the past kids used to grow up with all family members more specifically with elders. They interacted a lot with elders and with time they learned better manners compared to the kids of the current generation. Technology can't teach anyone how to behave well and learn better manners. In the time of growing up the current generation is the most important and valuable lesson of manners. Moreover, technological devices make impact on the minds of kids which makes them hyper most of the time and they naturally grow as arrogant kids. I know many mothers want to accept it because their child is receiving the best manners but actually they are not and I am not going to believe it because I am observing it carefully.
I think teachers should not think about teaching as a business only. They should try their best to create bonding with students which must be more powerful than financial things. Teacher's behavior plays a significant role in this case. Again in case of indirect impact, It can be solved. We need to be careful that kids are not using technological devices for a long time as we can't isolate them from modern technology. We can set a maximum and ideal time limit to use technological devices and we need to ensure that kids are spending quality time with family members including elders.
Let's talk about the positive change for being a student of the current time. In the past, most of the students were only focused on textual books or related things which narrowed their vision about careers. At that time nobody used to think about skill development besides studying. With time that kind of mentality of students changed a lot. In the current time, students have a clear and wider vision about their careers. They're trying to learn new skills and trying to develop those. Maybe technological development made things easier for them otherwise it can be the result of their multi-dimensional thinking.

Unfortunately, the remuneration for teachers is poor and hence, the unprofessional preference or pursuit for money even in the academia.
Well, some teachers are archaic and may preferably hold onto old teaching practices rather than adopting improved teaching techniques. I believe there's improvement though. Thank you for your good exposition
I think a teacher need to be updated with time and adopt the updated techniques. The also need money but they should not forgot their real task. A student learn from a teacher from textual and non textual knowledge. If the teacher mostly focus on money then what the message student will receive. I think everything has it's own limit. Moreover I didn't said teacher is the only reason. There are reason from student side also.
I think your expectations from teachers is a big ask, given the poor ROI they get. Not to talk of the inflation in the midst of a stagnant salary.
I mean, realistically speaking, teachers are still doing a great job just that their are currently a lot of distractions on the part of students these days. Students have somehow come to the realisation or conclusion that their teachers are not rich and hence subconsciously begin to look down on them and disrespect follows afterwards.
I just compared the teachers mentality in current time versus past time. Maybe your country the situation is different but in my country whatever I say it is the truth.
Student getting distracted for various thing but it doesn't mean it brings disrespect to teacher. I don't agree with your this statement. In that case it's applicable for teachers also. Such as "teachers also getting distracted and they are not preparing their lesson in interesting way for student well". I am not trying to disrespect the teacher but blaming students is not so logical also.
Makes sense actually, because what I was saying is my observation from my country.
There is no doubt that today's students do not respect the teacher. If I talk about my college, our teachers hesitate to talk to students because they know that if any student misbehaves, our honor will be ruined.
Today's students watch movies and try to be bullying like them
It's not a good thing and through this process the beauty of teacher of student relationship is decreasing or disappearing. I wish to Revive the pure relationship between teacher and student.

It's sad if that's the case nowadays where you are. I think teachers here in my town are doing great despite the challenges they face with their students and their work.
