RoboCup es una competición internacionalmente reconocida que tiene como objetivo fomentar el desarrollo de aplicaciones robóticas y, por supuesto, la inteligencia artificial que las controla. En ella, equipos de diferentes países compiten en diversas categorías, y como su nombre lo indica, deben utilizar robots, en su mayoría autónomos. Algunas de las categorías en las que se compite son fútbol robótico, acciones de rescate, actividades para hogares inteligentes, robótica industrial, etc. y cada año, con los avances, se suman nuevas categorías.

Según la [página web oficial de RoboCup](https://www.robocup.org/about-robocup/), la competición fue fundada en 1997 y desde entonces se ha convertido en una de las competiciones internacionales más conocidas y disputadas sobre robótica, con miles de equipos cada año, queriendo llevarse el trofeo a casa.
Pero no creeras cuál era su objetivo inicial ¿adivinas?. Pues la idea original era crear un equipo de robots que pudiera ganar al equipo campeón de la Copa del Mundo de la FIFA para el año 2050. Aunque el evento ha evolucionado en multiples formas desde entonces, su objetivo inicial mantiene su curso.

Obvio que este año también tocaba, y RoboCup 2023 se llevará a cabo en Burdeos desde hoy 4 y hasta el 10 de julio, con la participación de alrededor de 2500 participantes de 45 países diferentes. Será un evento emocionante, con más competiciones que antes, muchas sesiones de entrenamiento y un simposio con charlas magistrales de expertos sobre robótica social y ética robótica.
