Case Study: Self-Filling Water Bottle
They had a slick marketing campaign. They made a bunch of promises about the utility of their product. They got funding up front from people who didn't have any understanding of the basic science.
It reminds me of how (some) ICOs launch, only it has nothing to do with crypto. Also, it's not like the backers of this project were trying to double their money. They just wanted the product when it launched. Oh well.

Interesting concept but people don't like type of technology.. instead of buying this they would prefer to fill by opening the cap .. they don't have time to wait till the bottle gets self filled...
Actually, consumer apathy not the reason this concept failed.
