Learn to Code Tribe Update (Upcoming Launch, Looking for Volunteer Moderators)

avatar

First, @learn2code now has the 3000 BEE for setting up BYTE token (SMT reward pool, staking, and delegation).

We're still on track for a Learn to Code tribe March 31st launch. The BYTE whitepaper will be posted to @learn2code on March 24. 1,000,000 BYTE tokens will be put on the exchanges by @learn2code on March 30 at 0.001 SWAP.HIVE price. On March 31st, SMT reward pool, staking, and delegation will be enabled for BYTE.

Speaking of delegation, Learn to Code is looking for volunteer moderators. Starting March 31st, the volunteer moderators will get some BYTE delegated to their accounts. Preferably volunteers who have some experience with programming, but also anyone who has written at least a post or two expressing an interest or desire for wanting to learn to code will be considered.

The goal is to have four moderators when Learn to Code launches on March 31st. I believe @memess has already expressed some interest in being a moderator. If anybody else wants to help make sure quality content is upvoted while spam and tag abuse is downvoted in our new tribe, please reply to this post.

I’m just trying to start with learning frontend development(backend later) soon, probably going to start this month ending or the next one. I would want to be a part of a coding community on Hive, which I’m sure will help my programming journey. If I’m not considered I will surely stick with being a member who’s ready to learn with other devs/members in the community.

You've been chosen as a moderator. I want to double-check with you about BYTE delegation. Do you want your moderator BYTE delegated to @mviews or an alternate account?

If you still want to be a tribe moderator, which account do you want your BYTE delegation going toward?

BYTE SMT reward pool is now functioning. You'll have your delegation to @memess.byte soon.

The whitepaper post on @learn2code should have all the necessary details you need. The only things I now realize that I need to add to the whitepaper are the undelegation and unstaking data (both 8 days with four transactions). If there's anything else you want to know please feel free to ask in a reply.

I am currently writing the "Hello World" post for the tribe on @learn2code. You can use the #learntocode tag (general purpose for tribe) to make a kind of introduce yourself post as a member )and tribe moderator) of Learn to Code. What you know so far, what you are planning to learn and do, the kind of content you plan to mostly post, ect.

Should i only downvote or can vote too or is better to follow the learn2code curation trail?

You can downvote and upvote based on your own discernment. I worded it in the whitepaper to make it clear that Learn to Code doesn't claim a monopoly on pre-existing tags on Hive. It's possible that someone could use the #software tag to just post about a commercial software program and not be aware of Leearn to Code and BYTE token's existence. Someone might use #hardware to write about the new graphics card they bought. When voting @learn2code will look at the quality of the post, the tags used, and whether the user posting tends to use more tribe tags than they need to on past posts, to judge.

You can follow @learn2code curation trail on hive.vote if you'd like. I won't be on Hive as much as usual between April 14-May 4. During that time the curation trail won't be very active. I was planning to follow your trail during that time coming up.😁

I am looking forward to the creation of the tribe. I see that the Learn2Code community has the community account hive-188262

As mentioned earlier, I started unstaking my BEE. I will have 120 BEE on March 24th at noon MST ... if you need more BEE. If you need the BEE, I will transfer it to @learn2code on the 24th.

I see that @learn2code has a sweet stack of 3000 BEE already. Wow, 3000 BEE costs $362.

https://hive-engine.com/@learn2code/wallet

I also acquired 600 STEM. I hope to accumulate some more for the launch.

I'd be happy to give @learn2code an RC delegation.

I've been using the account @irivers to curate STEM content. I have 30K STEM. I will collect my BYTE in this account as there will be a symbiotic relation between STEM and BYTE.

I don't think that I would be a good moderator as I am already stretched thin.

BTW: If you want to protect the #BYTE community against tag spam. I would be happy to downvote anyone who abuses the tag.

I am really looking forward to the community's creation. I've been toying with different projects that I could develop for the tribe.

@holovision! You Are Alive so I just staked 0.1 $ALIVE to your account on behalf of @ yintercept. (1/10)

The tip has been paid for by the We Are Alive Tribe through the earnings on @alive.chat, feel free to swing by our daily chat any time you want, plus you can win Hive Power (2x 50 HP) and Alive Power (2x 500 AP) delegations (4 weeks), and Ecency Points (4x 50 EP), in our chat every day.

Yes, #hive-188262 is the community account.

Thanks. It looks like right now 120 BEE is worth 41.30 SWAP.HIVE on TribalDEX. I guess someone has read this post and already put in a BUY order for 100 BYTE at 0.001 SWAP.HIVE.😁 1000000 BYTE won't be put on the exchange until March 30 but I can trade with you the BEE equivalent on the 24th.

Yes, if you send 120 BEE on March 24 @learn2code will transfer 41,300 BYTE to you. Just let me know if you want the BYTE sent to @irivers, @yintercept, or split between the accounts. The BEE will go toward setting up the first BYTE diesel pool.

Also, @learn2code has started following the @irivers and @yintercept accounts.

If you want to donate a little RC to @learn2code that would be appreciated. The @holovision account is already delegating enough RC for making 45 comments at 100%. I'll be posting to @learn2code soon and those posts will help to add more HP as they payout.

Hi, I started to learn Python slightly less than a month ago (I'm self-taught studying in my free time, so my progress are quite slow) and I was looking for a place here on Hive where I could share my doubts and talk with others about Python and programing in general... If I could be of any help, I'd be happy to join this community and, if you are in need of an extra mod, I'd also like to propose myself :)

Just like you I am learning Python in my free time. That's one of the reasons I am starting Learn to Code. Maybe you've already seen this:

https://developers.hive.io/tutorials-python/getting_started.html

The tutorials do reguire slightly more knowlefge than you've probably gained so far in a month, but it's good to know what points in the road you are heading toward.😁

If you're interested in learning how to develop projects for Hive @learn2code should be a helpful account to follow. I am a beginner and I will be posting what I learn on @learn2code, going through the tutorials, so it will all be from a beginner's perspective.

You'll be considered for a moderator position also.

Maybe you've already seen this:

Thanks! Right now I'm following the free course CS50: introduction to Python, but as soon as I'm going to finish it, I'm going to dive into Hive tutorials and the link you provided is going to be really useful.

so it will all be from a beginner's perspective

That's perfect! I'm sure that sharing our journey with other Hivers/Hivians is going to be very useful to learn more stuff and keep ourselves motivated!

On a more personal note, may I ask you if you have any site/platform/tutorial/material you would recommend me studying before I start doing anything else?

Right now I've completed/I'm completing:

  • the course CS50P (done 7 lessons out of 10 with their exercises);
  • the tutorials available at learnpython.org (all done, but need to re-do some of them, as among the last tutorials there were some which were quite difficult for me)
  • the tutorials available at w3schools.com (same as above)
  • a couple of videos on Youtube by the account FreeCodeCamp (to be more specific, I completed this one and started this one)

Do you have any suggestion on what I could do next? Thanks!

It looks like you are doing a good job so far. If those resources are working for you then continue with that. Mostly what I've been doing is learning with YouTube tutorial videos (on tablet, I take written notes while watching and listening) and a few physical books.

Also, I made some Python flashcards. If you just have a few minutes to kill like trying to make an important call and being put on hold, the flashcards make for good review so the time being on hold isn't wasted.

I guess I could start also posting some of my own python lessons on my own account while posting what I learn about blockchain development on @learn2code.

I'd actually love to join and I need to learn how to code.

I need to know the basics of it I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to survive mastering the skill but I'm going to try.

And I would be interested in talking. Do you have discord?

Yes. I've been working on getting into the habit of checking Discord every day, mostly it's every two or three days. Much better than when I went months not checking on Discord.😁
