I have come to understand that the rate at which people falls sick these days is becoming unbearable. Everyday we keep on having increase in number of persons visiting the hospital. Sometimes I wonder what might be the issue. I could remember vividly How my grand father use to tell me stories concerning their youthful age, the kind of food they eat then and the things they do. My greatest surprise was that, some of the things they eat then are no longer being regarded in this modern age.

Today the food we eat and our life style have actually changed a lot in our body system therefore making us to be more prone to several diseases.

These days we no longer want to go back to some of the things our forefathers did to sustain life. Then people uses some natural product like fruit and vegetables to cure or prevent ailment but today we all are relying on antibiotics for our treatment therefore making it more resistance.

Have you ever for once asked yourself why all these diseases, have you also tried to sit down and calculate what might actually be the issue why sickness is increasing on daily bases.

To me having a way of changing our eating habits and the things needed to be eaten can go a long way in curtailing most of this diseases.
Today, I will be talking about a kind of vegetable called ginger, how this vegetable can be of help and its medicinal use in our body system.

let's begin

Ginger is a tropical flowering plant that grows mainly on southeastern part of asia. But today it is found mostly in different parts of the world. It is known scientifically as Zingiber officinale from Zingiberaceae family. It grows about three fit tall and produces a greenish purple flowers. The root of the vegetable can be red, white or yellow depending on the species. This vegetable can be harvested by pulling the root out of the soil. It can be eaten fresh,or made into tablets, capsule or even liquid extract.

This vegetable contains a lot of
valuable constituent which includes protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, folate, riboflavin and niacin. These constituent makes it more unique and medicinal in nature.

Without wasting much of our time, I think it will be very important to tell us more about this vegetable how it can better human life.

coagulating factors of ginger

It will be very much essential to understand what coagulation is before explaining the role of ginger in it, this will enable us to have a full understanding on what we are talking about.

Coagulation can simply be defined as the process by which blood clot can be form. Coagulation helps to prevent blood from gushing out of the body through the production of fibrin mesh. This mesh helps to prevent bleeding through different pathway activations. This can only be achievable through aggregation of platelets at the site of injury forming clotting mesh. This method is known as primary hemostasis.

After primary hemostasis comes secondary hemostasis. Secondary hemostasis is more or less like solidifying the initial platelet plug that are being formed. They are categorically being divided into two, which are intrinsic and extrinsic pathway. The both pathways come together forming what we known as common pathway.
The intrinsic pathway are made up of different factors, which are I,2,9,10,11 and 12. Factor one is known as fibrinogen, two is called prothrombin, and the rest are named in that order Christmas factor, Stuart power factor, plasma thromboplastin and hageman factor.

The extrinsic pathway also consist of I,2,7 and 10. While factor seven is known as stable factor. Both the extrinsic and intrinsic pathway have a meeting point known as common pathway. This pathway contains factors that governs both the intrinsic and extrinsic pathway. They are factor one, two, five, eight and ten. This common pathway factors circulates into the bloodstream as zymogen and are being activated into serine proteases. The work of these serine proteases is to act as a catalyst to cleave the next zymogen into different proteases to activate fibrinogen which now can be converted down to fibrin.

If you look at this whole story about how coagulation are being taken place, you will be able to understand that, to every step there is always a factor that governs it. Once there is any change or alterations in any of this factors, uncontrolled bleeding Sets in. Then remember coagulation cascade can only be activated once there is a cut or an injury in a particular parts of the body. There are some cases where people can actually have internal coagulation instead of the external one. This can be as a result of genetic mutation or alterations in the genetic make up of an individual. Once this happens internal coagulation sets in.
The work of ginger is to prevent internal coagulations by reducing the number of thromboxane a2 that are being secreted so as to prevent platelets aggregation.

Its role in diabetic patient

Diabetes which we all know is the inability of the body to make use of glucose in the blood by converting them into glycogen by a hormone called insulin. This hormone are found in the pancreas where they are being secreted by pancreatic cell called islet of langerhans. Once there is any defect in insulin production, there will be increase of glucose level in the blood due to its inability to be stored in the muscle. Because of this deficiency in insulin glucose can no longer be stored in the muscle. But presence of ginger can bypass the work of insulin by converting excess glucose found in blood into glycogen without the help of insulin.

sexual performance

Ginger has also been proven in helping to regain sexual performance caused as a result of poor blood circulation in the body. It has been proven that most of the erectile dysfunction we have these days is as a result of poor blood circulation.
Ginger is also known to increase the level of testosterone production. This is done by increasing the level of luteinizing hormone production and cholesterol in the testes. This helps to enhance man's performance and its sexual activity.

in motion sickness

Some persons finds it very difficult to stay for a long time in the boat or car during traveling. They actually feels the need to throw up during the journey. This kind of sickness is known as what we call motion sickness.
It is a gastrointestinal problem that gets you uncomfortable anytime you are traveling. The symptoms includes nausea, feeling dizzy and abdominal discomfort.
Taking ginger help to reduce this effect and help maintain safe trip without any obstruction.

in conclusion

Apart from the above listed importance of ginger. This vegetable also has a lot of other advantage which can as well help in human life. Some of them are in digestion, antibacterial effect, antifungal effect and many others.
With this we can now comfortably say that this vegetable medicinal value can go a long way in helping people's life in different dimensions.
Embracing the use of fruit, vegetables and many other natural product can help us in curtailing some of the deadly diseases that are ravaging the world as of today.

In contrast to @saintgentle, the sexual performance benefits or ginger consist of a running joke at home every time we eat Asian food (in which a lot of spices including ginger are added) :)

Thanks for sharing this post with us! Cheers!
