Technology has made communication accessible to all. Unlike some many years back when you have to wait for days before you hear from loved ones or friends, letters took time to reach their destination and another extra time to be delivered back. When a person has an emergency and needs to contact a family member because of the distance was impossible. Fast forward to our contemporary world where within the twinkle of an eye, we are able to use the feature of the mobile device to communicate or send messages accross cities, towns and countries. Calls and messaging are one of the most important features of a mobile device because they come in handy and has many advantages.
Hence, the decision to call or text during an emergency can be a tricky one due to different reasons. There are some emergency situations where the person can quickly make a call directly to contact and inform the person of what is going on and there are emergency situations where the caller cannot speak or make a noise rather send a text message is the best option. For instance, when in a crisis, you can make a call if there is no threat involved but imagine a situation of armed robbery, kidnapping, violence or a situation where you are hiding, sending a text message is the best option.
I have experienced different occasions where I had to use eitheknown requiremessaging to contact the other person. I remember when I was strandedreceives smalln emergency came up, I was in a tight position because it was urgent and I couldn't make a call while the lecturer was there, it was urgent and needed to call my roommate to help meet up with someone. In the end I had to use text messages to communicate the location and at the same give directions on how they can meet up.
Another I used sms to communicate was when we go stranded at an unknown location with no network. It was scary and lonely and there was no way to make a call because of the bad network service. One thing for sure is that, sms is known require less bandwidth which is why it is more likely to go through when it receives small network connection. That was how I contacted my family about my whereabouts and made them worry less.
This is a part of my entry for the #novemberinleo prompt as organized by the @leogrowth team with great initiative that members of Hive you can participate in this prompt and tackle them as you deem fit.

You made me imagine the whole armed robbery situation. It sure would depend on the situation in the first place. As you said, it might be tricky and it would depend on the victim to be smart enough to know which one to use.
Yes the situation determines the choice to follow, thanks for your input
Here's a great perspective. I think it depend on the kind of emergency and who we are reaching out to.
Yes exactly, thank you for your input
It's a pleasure
