STEM is an abbreviation commonly used to represent these words Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Thus, the question of the representation of women in STEM is one that has evolved over the years, although there is still a low amount of women who have prospered in this fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. But as the world evolves and as education is beginning to take a priority amongst our youth, it is note worthy that more women are beginning to stand up to these challenges and take up courses that builds prestige in one way or another.

In the society we live in at present, it is believed that such courses or careers are meant for the male gender but I am glad that things are changing and now we have professors in areas of engineering, mathematics and scientific based professions. Take for instance, the notable woman professor from the University of Benin edo state, in the person of professor Grace Alele Williams. She wasn't outstanding individual and the first to reckon with, she studied mathematics to the point of having a doctorate degree in it. She also became the vice chancellor of the prestigious University of Benin. In some of a seminars we would see her advocating for empowerment of women in stem courses and careers.

There are also notable personalities and the stem feeds who are women and some of them include Prof. Mojisola Christianah Adeyeye (a pharmacist and former Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC)), Prof. Olanike Adeyemo - A professor of Medical Microbiology at the University of Ibadan, Prof. Stella Williams - A physicist and former Dean of the Faculty of Science at Nsuka, Prof. Akinyinka Omigbodun - A psychiatrist.

Take the tech space as an example in Nigeria women are breaking the barriers that men can be the only one who can crack codes build user interface and so on. These days there are girls and Ladies who are taking courses that will enhance their knowledge and place them at an advantage. On social media, we are all familiar with a lady who calls herself miss techy, recently she won an award for being a consistent tech analyst amongst a male peers. There are several other women who builds website design UI/UX, graphics designing, programming, software development, data analyst, cyber security, blockchain and so on.

In conclusion, it is obvious that women are getting engaged in stem activities which puts them at pair with the male counterpart. In our contemporary world, we have women who are engineers and managing top organizations, we also have women who are scientists that have helped the country and the world that large to be a better place for everyone. Representation of women in stem has been a notable one that has encouraged the younger generation to partake in challengeing courses like these ones.

This is a part of my entry for the #juneinleo prompt as organized by the @leogrowth team with great initiative that members of Hive you can participate in this prompt and tackle them as you deem fit. In collaboration with the @ladiesofhive community.

Science had important women, and there is room for more. Interesting to know some actual women in Africa doing good things for science!

Truly, there have been a significant number of women going into the stem field. The world has accepted education and technology more than it has ever and women are already stepping up to be among the top 10%. I hope the time will come soon where women will be among the top 1% in the STEM field.

So far so good, they've literally been increases in the number of women who engage in that aspect, Stem in the global world.
We just hope they aren't going to be a change in that aspect rather, more increase in it.
Cause we need more women in the scientific world
