There was an article written, In Defence of the Monolith, that comes to mind here. Apache Isis is now Causeway. For a database-backed modular monolith, this is the first place I go. Once I have a functioning application then optimizing with microservices can be factored in.

Appreciate the insight! You hit the nail on the head—unnecessary overhead is the ultimate project killer for solo developers. It's much better to focus 100% of your energy on shipping features that users actually interact with rather than micro-managing container routing prematurely.
