Electron Microscopy Days in Brno; Dny elektronové mikroskopie
Letos v březnu je to 75 let, kdy vědecký tým kolem Armina Delonga v Brně vyvinul první československý elektronový mikroskop. Díky této události a dalšímu vývoji se Brno stalo hlavním světovým městem elektronové mikroskopie, neboť každý třetí mikroskop je vyroben právě zde.
EN: This March marks 75 years since a scientific team led by Armin Delong in Brno developed the first Czechoslovak electron microscope. Thanks to this achievement and the developments that followed, Brno has become a global centre of electron microscopy. In fact, every third electron microscope in the world is produced here.
V rámci Dní elektronové mikroskopie jsou pro veřejnost připraveny přednášky, výstavy a exkurze do brněnských univerzitních pracovišť a firem.
EN: As part of the Electron Microscopy Days, a rich programme of lectures, exhibitions, and guided tours is prepared for the public. Visitors can explore university laboratories and local companies involved in this advanced field.
V centru města na Moravském náměstí potom jsou k vidění tisíckrát až milionkrát zvětšené nafukovací modely. K želvušce, bakteriofágu, roztoči a nanostruktuře letos přibyla bakterie Escherichia Coli.
EN: In the city centre, at Moravian Square, people can see large inflatable models magnified from one thousand to one million times. Alongside a tardigrade, a bacteriophage, a mite, and a nanostructure, this year’s exhibition also features the bacterium Escherichia coli.
Nanostruktura zároveň slouží jako galerie. Uvnitř si mohou návštěvníci prohlédnout fotografie pořízené díky elektronovým mikroskopům.
EN: The nanostructure also serves as a gallery. Inside, visitors can view fascinating images captured using electron microscopes.
