Sometimes, walking near home, you can get a nice nature view! I just wish that I had gone more prepared for these walks with my good digital camera. The maximum that I have for these moments is my iPhone, which lacks good zooming. There was a beautiful Saturday morning when I went jogging and I saw so many different birds, but I didn't even have my phone with me. Last Sunday, I went for a bicycle ride with my youngest and I stopped to take some pictures of interesting visitors that aren't always around here all year long.

The Sunridge Park is one of the artificial parks built by the city. It has two big lakes, and I usually start jogging from home, and I complete around 5 km after two and a half laps around the park. While riding the bicycle, we saw this lonely pelican swimming in one of the lakes. I saw pelicans on the river that cuts the city in two, called Oldman River, but never saw them around my home. I'm not sure if it is the same one, but I also saw a pelican while jogging two Saturdays ago.

Pelicans appear here in the spring and summer since they go south during the winter. And it is nice to see something different in these lakes. Normally we only see ducks and the "cobra chickens", or better, the famous Canadian geese. This one was a bit far even for my poor iPhone zoom, so I tried to get closer to the lake, but in the end, it probably made him fly when he saw me.

I read today from @thekittygirl about AI image editing to try to improve images, so I decided to see what AI could do for the picture. Well, it looks clearer, but it also looks so unnatural, don't you think? I just asked it to improve the quality of the image.

I will continue with the originals. Maybe I should be more prepared with a good camera to capture these moments. Three weeks ago, I also got a seasonal visitor, the Yellow-headed Blackbird. By the way, this bird has a very noisy sound. I even registered this one in the iNaturalist app to confirm the species:

Observando a natureza no parque perto de casa

Às vezes, caminhando perto de casa, você pode se deparar com uma bela paisagem natural! Só queria estar mais preparado para esses passeios levando minha câmera digital. O máximo que tenho para esses momentos é meu iPhone, que não tem um zoom muito bom. Num lindo sábado de manhã fui correr e vi muitos pássaros diferentes, mas nem meu celular estava comigo. No domingo passado fui andar de bicicleta com meu filho caçula e parei para registrar alguns visitantes interessantes que não estão sempre por aqui o ano todo.

O Parque Sunridge é um dos parques artificiais construídos pela cidade. Possui dois grandes lagos, e eu costumo começar minha corrida em casa e completar cerca de 5 km após duas voltas e meia ao redor do parque. Enquanto andávamos de bicicleta, vimos este pelícano solitário nadando em um dos lagos. Eu já tinha visto pelicanos no Rio Oldman, mas nunca perto de casa. E não tenho certeza se era o mesmo, mas também vi um pelicano enquanto corria há duas semanas.

Os pelicanos aparecem por aqui na primavera e no verão, já que migram para o sul durante o inverno. E é bom ver algo diferente nesses lagos. Normalmente só vemos patos e os famosos gansos-do-canadá. Este estava um pouco longe até mesmo para o zoom do meu iPhone, então tentei me aproximar do lago, mas no fim provavelmente o assustei quando me viu.

Li hoje no blog da @thekittygirl sobre edição de imagens com IA para tentar melhorar fotos, então resolvi ver o que a IA poderia fazer com a imagem. Bem, parece mais nítida, mas também parece muito artificial, não acha? Eu só pedi para melhorar a qualidade da imagem.

Vou continuar com as originais. Talvez eu devesse estar mais preparado com uma boa câmera para capturar esses momentos. Há três semanas também recebi a visita de um pássaro sazonal, a graúna-de-cabeça-amarela. Aliás, esse pássaro tem um canto muito alto. Até registrei ele no aplicativo iNaturalist para confirmar a espécie:
