Are we really on the top of the other animals?

  It is incredible how we put ourselves at the top of the world, as the most evolved beings. That's also how some religions put us there. Not long ago, I debated with a user who said that he couldn't believe that evolution is real, since we are the ones more evolved,and it is difficult to believe that our ancestors were less evolved. But why do we think this way when we get inspired and create heroes with superpowers inspired by real animal skills? Evolution is so interesting that it makes characteristics that are important for specific beings to survive and reproduce, passing the genes on to them.

  Have you ever thought that our vision is so limited? We can't see all the colours available in the Universe, and that sucks. We only have three colour receptors: Blue, green and blue. Many other animals can see many more colors than us and the world can be more like an abstract painting. Birds and butterflies can also see ultraviolet and other spectres of colors. I know that some flowers like sunflowers. Sunflowers have UV to help butterflies to reach them. It should be something unique that we can't see.

  Superheroes like Spiderman make us dream of having some of these skills that we can't have. The famous spider sense, which is copied from the animal, is one example. The animal has super sensitivity to what is happening in its web. small contacts in the web make the spider to go catch the prey at high speed and with super agility. The hero got something similar and can sense movements near him or in the area where he is located. Another hero who has interesting animal skills that we can't have is Aquaman. It isn't my favorite hero, but he can communicate underwater with other sea animals. The way that humans are, we can't vocalize underwater, but some animals like whales can use low-frequency sounds to communicate with each other and also to detect objects. We copied that skill into sonar, which is present in the ships and submarines so they can localize other objects underwater.

  Animals have such cool senses that even the hero that doesn't have a superpower decided to use technology to copy other animals, as we do with sonars. Batman uses echolocation, like that of bats, and adapts other important skills that are hard to use, such as equipment to see farther, like eagle eyes and goggles with heat vision, which are used by some snakes. So even in the comics, we are still adapting skills not born with us.

  It can't be a competition of who is most evolved, all animals are adapted to live in their proper ecosystem and relationships. Overall, we can say that our intelligence evolved in a more complex way than other beings, but still, dolphins, for example, can reach a mapping based on sound that we will never achieve. So next time, let's think about that, we aren't the most advanced creature on the planet; we are just greedy about thinking about that.

 Super-heróis como o Homem-Aranha nos fazem sonhar em ter algumas dessas habilidades que não podemos ter. O famoso sentido aranha, copiado do animal, é um exemplo. O animal tem uma supersensibilidade ao que acontece em sua teia. Pequenos pontos de contato na teia permitem que a aranha capture a presa em alta velocidade e com super agilidade. O herói possui algo semelhante e consegue sentir movimentos perto dele ou na área onde se encontra. Outro herói com habilidades animais interessantes que nós não temos é o Aquaman. Ele não é meu herói favorito, mas consegue se comunicar debaixo d'água com outros animais marinhos. Nós, humanos, não conseguimos vocalizar debaixo d'água, mas alguns animais, como as baleias, usam sons de baixa frequência para se comunicar e também para detectar objetos. Copiamos essa habilidade para o sonar, presente em navios e submarinos, que permite localizar outros objetos submersos.

 Os animais têm sentidos tão incríveis que até mesmo o herói sem superpoderes decidiu usar a tecnologia para copiar outros animais, como fazemos com o sonar. O Batman usa ecolocalização, como a dos morcegos, e adapta outras habilidades importantes e difíceis de usar, como equipamentos para enxergar mais longe, como olhos de águia e óculos com visão térmica, usados ​​por algumas cobras. Então, mesmo nos quadrinhos, ainda estamos adaptando habilidades que não são inatas.

  Não pode ser uma competição para ver quem é o mais evoluído, todos os animais são adaptados para viver em seu ecossistema e relações próprias. No geral, podemos dizer que nossa inteligência evoluiu de uma forma mais complexa do que a de outros seres, mas ainda assim, os golfinhos, por exemplo, conseguem mapear sons de uma maneira que jamais alcançaremos. Então, da próxima vez, vamos pensar nisso: não somos as criaturas mais avançadas do planeta; apenas temos presunção de que somos.
