Yakuza 6 - FINISH

Words cannot begin to describe how much fun I had playing through Yakuza 6.
It was the same mindful fun, intrigue and drama I went through on Yakuza Kiwami 2... All of this incredible experience thanks to the mighty Dragon Engine.

This game follows Kiryu once again as he learns that his adopted daughter Haruka has been hit by a car and has a kid!
The story set-up is quite great and had me on edge at every single chapter, every single turn here made me want to see more.
Every hour of gameplay felt better than the last, and this was one of the shorter Yakuza games for me! Clocking in at just 16 hours unlike the almost 30 hours of Yakuza 5.

So so much was changed and added when compared to Yakuza 5. The game feels actually modern, as it actually is. Having come out on the PS4 originally instead of the PS3 unlike the older titles in the franchise chronologically.

The game sees you following the story in both good old Kamurocho and in the new setting of Onomichi, in Hiroshima prefecture.

This allows the story to take on a much grander, larger scope. With lowly yakuza, triad and Jingweon actors taking the stage alongside powerful figures in the underworld and even politicians doing everything to save their necks.

This game has the best plot of the franchise so far in my opinion. It wasn't the most fun I've had, that honour goes to Yakuza Kiwami 2, but it was the most engaged I've been in the franchise.

And that ending, wow!
Holy mother of God.
This is how you end a game, this is how you end a franchise.
This wasn't the last we've seen of Kazuma Kiryu, after all he did show in the first Yakuza title I played (7 - Like a Dragon), but this is a great send off that separates his Yakuza days of old to the new Kiryu that we'll definitely be seeing in the following months.

• How Did I Play The Game?

The reason why I didn't capture my own footage is that for now I'm without a Series S, so I ended up playing the game on my family's Samsung TV using the Xbox Cloud Gaming app with my Xbox Gamepass Ultimate subscription.

It played great and looked quite awesome at 1080p60fps (running in the Series performance mode, better than even the PS5).

Anyway, this was a phenomenal experience and while I did say I wasn't going to write more about Yakuza, I couldn't help but do so.

If you have the means to, play this franchise IMMEDIETALY. It's AMAZING.
The Yakuza/Like a Dragon franchise is now up there in one of my gaming bests pedestals.
And it won't be dethroned anytime soon.

I hope you have as much fun and as much of a great experience with this game as I've had.
