Gaming PC Dead - Me Sad

That right there is my gaming PC, or better, was my gaming PC.

It wasn't anything spectacular, it wasn't really ready for this new generation of games, but it ran what I wanted to play and that's what matters. It had an old i5 7600, a GTX 1660 Super and 16GBs of RAM.

How did it break? Well, I don't know how, but I know what broke.
I went to sleep one night, woke up the next day and bam, no power.

I then took it to my friend's tech shop and we tested out the parts. PSU was ok, motherboard dead, CPU ok and one of the two 8GB RAM stickd was dead.

I'm assuming something happened during the night that made my cheap PSU fry the motherboard. It's just a guess, but who knows?

What did I do with it then? Offered it to my friend and he bought it for R$900 (almost $200 USD).

Seems fine enough, but expect the unexpected and I wasn't doing that. With that R$900 I bought a PS4, a Fat model one with 500GBs and I put a 1TB external drive on it.

A couple days after that I get a call from my friend and he says that the GPU was dead as well.

My reaction was 🤡.
I felt stupid, I had already spent all the money. So now I owe him R$600 (almost $100 USD) which is the price we agreed on for the GPU.

It sucks, but I'll figure out a way. It'll be fine.

How have I been entertaining myself then? Well, I've owned a couple Playstation systems in the past and I have quite a good amount of purchased games on my account. So I've been playing those even without PS Plus and it's been fun.

My laptop can also handle indie titles and older games and when you have such limitations you end up finding some gems you wouldn't normally play.
As a matter of fact, I'd say I'm totally fine with these circumstances, besides the money I owe now.

One thing I didn't know was that there was a revision for the Fat PS4 model with a matte HDD cover and physical buttons, really quite interesting. It looks better in my opinion.

I might post about the PS4 and the games I've been playing, but I just wanted to let this post out to vent a little. Next year I'll get myself a new PC, I know it.

Sorry to hear about your Gaming PC! My previous gaming PC was super outdated but ran many games well until the power supply died. It's neat that you had a friend who could test out the components to see where the issue stemmed from!

Good luck with your future gaming adventures!
