Got the new CPU in my PC working fine, but now my cooler is the problem. It just ...
... simply isn't enough for an i7. So that's the next upgrade... Disappointing that I gotta wait an extra 2 days for that, but meh, it is what it is.

You are building your own desktop computer?
Posted via D.Buzz
Yup. This is my 5th one.
Have you pictures from the last setups? Did you keep the old parts?
Unfortunately no. I lost my last setup on a scam trade.
And if I have pictures of my previous rigs they're likely well hidden hahaha
What is the strength of both?

What do you mean?
You said your CPU is too strong for your fan to cool. What is the power difference?

I don't think there's a way to compare a CPU to a cooler, but the difference is insanely huge.
At 100% cooling speed the CPU still goes up to 94°C.
94°C is not a great working temperature. I've got a real big one for my i5, stays always below 64°C and the #CPU is running for almost 13 years now.
I'm well aware. I'll be getting a new cooler on Sunday that's able to handle this i7.
It's also an old processor, about 10 years old, but damn, it's a beast.
😱😱🤯 That's HOT!!
Yup. But I'm getting another cooler today, so it'll be fine.
I was watching a video the other day where someone took their laptop apart to modify it and they used thermal paste. Not sure how well that works or how long it lasts but mine gets pretty warm as well. I have a Lenovo idea pad 1-14 ast I got three years ago. Not good on graphic intensive stuff I would like to get into.
Thermal paste is absolutely essential for cooling. All CPUs have thermal paste in between them and their coolers.
My problem is the cooler itself, the thermal paste I'm using is good enough.
