Yorkshire Grot

This could be interesting, stacked up fridges blocking the door.

And metal sheeting covering the windows, fortune favours the brave, sometimes these metal sheets are prone to peeling back to reveal an opening....so it was on hands and knees, a tight squeeze, but Bob's your uncle, Fanny's your aunt..............

..............C'mon. Let's mooch. A time capsule, many years abandoned, verging on maybe 20 years, who knows.

Now believe me when I tell you it was pitch black in here, all I had was the shit torch on my phone, for once I had to succumb in most of these shots to using flash, (it was too dark even for the 6(2)) but I can quite honestly say I am more than happy with the results and can see me using flash more often. (For fellow geeks: External Flash: HAHNEL Modus RT360RT, with diffuser bounced at 45°)

The house, consists of a kitchen, bathroom and two family rooms on the ground floor and two bedrooms upstairs

I could find nothing online on the past history of the house other than what I found written by one of the sell out gang on the urbex circuit. I shall just enlighten you on my findings.

It seems from correspondence in the house that it was last lived in by Anne, a widow and her son Simon. If Anne were alive today she would be 93yrs young. Simon, mid 60's probably, if he too walks the earth

Downstairs

_DSC1197.jpeg

Welcome to clutter central, cast your eyes around the main living room, peeling wallpaper, a portable gas fire , no central heating in this place.

_DSC1156.jpeg

An ancient telly when they had tubes, which is one step up from valves, and less prone to horizontal jitters which required a damn hard slap on the TV top to rectify.....seriously! people of a certain age will know!

_DSC1155.jpeg

A ladies gift pack, up until 1999 it was known as Oil of Ulay, always remember mother using this beauty product... she still had a face like dried up prune bless her.

_DSC1162.jpeg

_DSC1160.jpeg

There were quite a few empty bottles of booze scattered around the place, see the large and small bottles of Mateus Rose, I bloody love that. Was always a good way to impress the current squeeze, Friday nights, a country inn, chicken in the basket, scampi if you are that way inclined.

"A pint of your best lager barman, a Babycham for the lady, and please put a bottle of Mateus on ice for when we eat, if you would"

The backseat of my Ford Anglia at the end of the night was my happy place!

To young men of a certain age we all know what we they were firing at Cher.

The small kitchen off the main room, known in former times as a "back kitchen", but the name has stuck. Please Mr G enlighten us as to why it was so called.

Well back in the day the upper classes had a back kitchen off the main kitchen, an area where all the dirty work was done, like peeling potatoes and stuff.

_DSC1146.jpeg

Whereas in the real world of the common man, living in his two up two down terrace house the front door opened into the living room which led to "the back kitchen".

_DSC1149.jpeg

Apparently the tinternet tells me glenfarclas whiskey is a highly praised and sought after single malt.

_DSC1150.jpeg

_DSC1148.jpeg

Looks like Garfield has had too much of the Amontillado sherry

_DSC1151.jpeg

Lets talk bathrooms for a moment

_DSC1158.jpeg

_DSC1159.jpeg

Or maybe just admire the decor

In 2003, Anne sadly required medical assistance suffering trauma to her hip, this could be the reason why we find that one of the family rooms now contains a single bed, and a zimmer frame for getting about. ( a sensible move, the stairs as you will see are not the easiest to navigate even for a sprightly young chap like me)

Though a Pepsi max can seems a little out of place!

Founded in 1667 by Charles Reade, as a free school
“to instruct the children of the parish without charge, to read, write and cast accounts, and further to teach them Latin, Greek and Hebrew, and other languages as occasion should require”.

Fuck me so much time totally wasted teaching kids crap like this, for what reason? so they can become experts and become teachers and educate future generations of kids total crap!

_DSC1172.jpeg

The report from the early 1970's shows Simon at the age of 12 was in the senior school, as a boarder, strange really as he didn't live far away, there must be reasons.

Upstairs

_DSC1191.jpeg

As you can see the stairs could be quite difficult to use, especially after a bottle of Mateus and a slug of whiskey

_DSC1186.jpeg

Heavy decay up here the roof collapsing in on itself

I can tell you about the Lotus 94 T driven by Nigel Mansell, if you really want? Nah I thought not. Wish I could enlighten you about the shenanigans at Circuit 22.

I'm over there this weekend so might try it, that's if the neighbours don't notice me. It was all Porches' and fancy cars with a deadly silence last time I tried.

Ann and son appear to have disappeared without clearing out, plenty interesting old pieces.

Report cards always detailed like telling on you to the parents, same ol! Thumping the old TV or computer screens worked, didn't it?

JPS were the brand of choice not found in many years, long before everyone had so much sway over an individuals lifestyle habits.

!BEER Superb explore.

Keep up the good work. 👏🎵

Dear beloved Hive creator,

Coding poet Gudasol here to support you sharing your art + life on Hive.

As a fellow creator, I know how hard it is to get the word out there.

I built cXc.world to help creators like us get more support from the blockchain community + beyond.

Share your music on cXc.world, and copy the Markdown for a easy post includes embedded players for Spotify, Youtube, Soundcloud.

That way, you can earn HIVE + stack streams on centralized platforms, as they do still matter.

Not a music creator? No problem. You can still use cXc.world to find + share music you love.

What's next?

Preview the next evolution of cXc, Tetra.earth.

Expose local music from your area!

We're helping grassroots musicians, and you can too by adding their music (no sign up or WAX account required).

how to add music on cXc.world

Join our community 🐬

Find fellow music lovers in cXc's Discord

Bad news: Saying see you later to Hive! 👋

We didn't get the needed support to continue cXc.world on Hive, as our DHF proposal lacked votes, but [Good News Everyone] cXc.world will add a Markdown copy button, allowing you to easily share your music + music you find on Hive.

For now, we're on WAX, with tools you can use to mint your own Music/Media NFT collection.
