When the Sun Became My Hope---A Human Story of Solar Power and Survival

It is not only about saving up extra cash.

To me, it is all about protecting my mental health, my peace of mind, and somehow saving my nobility. For a very very long time I have managed to live with the wobbling electricity, consistent blackout with prior notice, frequent lighting on candle sticks and continuous purr of generator with unbearable fuel price which reminds me constantly of a system has gave us their promise and has failed us.

Then this particular day, I looked at the sky.

And behold, the sun has always been constant and it has always been there, shinning upon us, giving that constant burn on the skin. In a world that has forever been inconsistent, at least the sun has always been constant and has given us something much more reliable which is the solar.

Changing and shifting my attention to solar was not just technical or anyhow decision. It was an emotive physiological decision. To me, it was one of the biggest decisions that has made me find rest without having to wallow in darkness when there is not light, I could charge daydream through the panel and some tranquility stored in the battery.

Solar has given me a much better control over a lot of things that I no longer have to wait till there is light before I can whatever I want to do, the freezer is always on, I can watch anything online with the stable light supply. To me, solar will always restore the sanity of any environment expecially any environment where constant electricity is always associated with power and class and class is associated with comfort.

The impact of solar energy feels powerful, clean and very sustainable not just in terms of the watts is supplies but also in terms of its impact especially in this time of economic hardship, climate change, wobbling eclectic supply and diminishing resources. Since this use of solar energy, I have come to realize that it is not until we wait for foreign grids, burn fossil fuels before we can generate electricity–it also comes from nature and it is all around us always.

In different traditions, society and civilization where it is known that belief in destiny usually silences action, solar has thought me that it is not necessarily that transformations have to come from the governments or it has to be a miracle. Most often, the change we need can be decided by us by only placing a single panel on the rooftop and the ultimate choice to regain your power.

So, yes, this is the truth about solar. It it is what some people will also say about it.
And light should never be a problem or luxury in this present world that is filled with doubts and uncertainty.
