I Did Not Know His Name, But I Still Remember His Face
This prompt reminded me of what happened during the message I heard in church last Sunday; it looks in a way the same. However, it was one very hot day some years back when I and some people from my church were traveling for a retreat, and all of a sudden, the car we took broke down in the middle of nowhere. We had to get down from the car, and the five of us started waving towards the cars coming for help, but none of them stopped to help.
That very day, which I cannot forget, I almost lost all hope because it was going towards the evening already and there was no sign of a mechanic or any vehicles that could wait to assist us, and some of us even stopped waving because we got tired.
We needed to get to the retreat ground that day to secure accommodation and all, but just a few minutes after everyone had given up, I was seated in the front seat, then I saw this pickup packed in front of us. None of us stopped it, then a man came down from it, asked us what happened, which none of us could figure out.

However, he brought out a very long rope from his pickup and asked us to enter into the car and said that we should not be worried because he has a mechanic nearby, not far from us. He used the rope he brought out and tied it to our car so that he could easily tow it to the mechanic he mentioned.
We all did as instructed; he tied us to the mechanic's place, he parked properly, then he told his mechanic to fix the car for us. On getting to the place, we all got down to remove the rope so as not to stress our helper again. After we had removed it, the mechanic came out to attend to us. Just before we could appreciate him, he zoomed off. I asked the mechanic if he knew the man; he said he had never seen him before.
Before he towed our car that day, he said something that I will never forget: “Young men, I am only here to help.” Till today, I still think in my mind that after waiting for hours, at the moment when we all gave up, an unexpected man showed up to help when we did not even ask him, which reminds me that there are still kind people amongst us today.

And also, from that very moment, my perspective about angels has changed because now, I know that there are angels amongst us; it is not necessarily that they have wings—we have human angels that are sent to us during times of need, like what happened to me and my friends in the middle of that road that we even know nothing about.
And anytime I also do someone a favor in the little way that I can, I always remember that man, and maybe that is how angels move too, by doing good in a way they can. And that is one of the reasons why I have chosen to be kind also in a way that I can.
Thank you for reading.
