Naturaleza humana, tecnología humana (Collage, mixto) / Human nature, human technology (Mixed, collage)

Saludos hivers. Hace unos cuantos años participé en un concurso de arte, no recuerdo el título del concurso pero la temática era algo así como mostrar la naturaleza del ser humano dentro de la nueva sociedad dominada por la tecnología. La forma de expresión artística era libre así que podía ser dibujo y pintura usando cualquier técnica, escultura, fotografía, collage, etc. Los trabajos se tenían que enviar por correo electrónico escaneados.

Hello hivers. A few years ago I participated in an art contest, I don't remember the title of the contest but the theme was something like showing the nature of the human being within the new society dominated by technology. The form of artistic expression was free so it could be drawing and painting using any technique, sculpture, photography, collage, etc. The works had to be sent by email scanned.

Después de pasar una semana pensando qué hacer 🥴🤔, decidí usar una técnica mixta, dibujo y collage. Los materiales que utilicé fueron cartulina mate (no sé cómo se le dice en otros países pero en Venezuela le decimos cartulina de construcción) en tres colores, negro, verde agua y azul, también usé hojas blancas, colores, marcador negro, pega en barra, tijeras y recortes de revistas.

After spending a week thinking about what to do 🥴🤔, I decided to use a mixed technique, drawing and collage. The materials I used were matte cardboard (I don't know what it is called in other countries but in Venezuela we call it construction cardboard) in three colors, black, aqua green and blue, I also used white sheets, colors, black marker, glue stick, scissors and magazine photos.

En vez de representar solamente la parte moderna y tecnológica en la cual se desenvuelve el ser humano quise también mostrar la contraparte y de esa manera enfrentar al mismo rostro ante esa realidad, tomando en cuenta que todo es dual.

Instead of representing only the modern and technological part in which the human being develops, I also wanted to show the counterpart and in this way confront the same face before that reality, taking into account that everything is dual.

El surgir de un nuevo amor, la esperanza latente en nuestras manos, el dulzor de una naranja o un durazno, el asombroso misterio del soplo de la vida, el aroma de las flores, la delicada belleza de una mariposa, la paz al mirar el azul del cielo, una estrella, el ciclo del sol y su metáfora diaria, la música, un pistacho saladito 😋. La naturaleza es la esencia de donde venimos, la máxima expresión de equilibrio y sabiduría. La naturaleza no juzga, no vive de apariencias, no miente, es real.

The emergence of a new love, the latent hope in our hands, the sweetness of an orange or a peach, the amazing mystery of the breath of life, the aroma of flowers, the delicate beauty of a butterfly, the peace when looking at the blue of the sky, a star, the cycle of the sun and its daily metaphor, music, a salty pistachio 😋. Nature is the essence of where we come from, the maximum expression of balance and wisdom. Nature doesn't judge, it doesn't live on appearances, it doesn't lie, it's real.

El ser humano ha pasado por muchas adaptaciones sociales que inevitablemente han transformado su realidad y su entorno e incluso lo han hecho alejarse de su esencia, la naturaleza. Pero hay algo muy importante que debemos recordar, la naturaleza nunca se va de nosotros ya que cada vez que respiramos, comemos, escuchamos, vemos o sentimos, ella se manifiesta, estamos vivos y todo lo vivo forma parte de la naturaleza.

Human beings have gone through many social adaptations that have inevitably transformed their reality and their environment and have even made them distance themselves from their essence, nature. But there is something very important that we must remember, nature never leaves us since every time we breathe, eat, listen, see or feel, it manifests itself, we are alive and everything alive is part of nature.

El omnipresente poder y presencia de internet, medicinas para aplacar hasta el más mínimo malestar, la búsqueda del cuerpo perfecto y la juventud eterna, el amor cibernético, los robots y la inteligencia artificial, el aislamiento social, la moda, la comida rápida, un perro añorando escapar de la naturaleza de concreto, el cine en casa, un ojo crítico que siempre nos observa, el teléfono como control remoto de la vida, un veneno invisible que poco a poco nos va debilitando.

The omnipresent power and presence of the internet, medicines to calm even the slightest discomfort, the search for the perfect body and eternal youth, cybernetic love, robots and artificial intelligence, social isolation, fashion, fast food, a dog longing to escape from concrete nature, the home theater, a critical eye that always watches us, the phone as a remote control of life, an invisible poison that little by little weakens us.

Esta obra artística la hice hace mucho tiempo así que obviamente no tengo documentado el paso a paso pero sí recuerdo perfectamente cómo lo hice. El primer paso fue hacer los rostros, los cuales dibujé y pinté en las hojas blancas para posteriormente recortarlos, luego tomé las cartulinas azul y verde agua y con un lápiz dibujé un diseño sobre ellas que tuviese el aspecto de un casco o algo así y lo recorté. Finalmente puse los rostros debajo de las cartulinas y los pegué, al igual que las fotos de las revistas, por último, dibujé un rayo entre los dos rostros usando mis colores metalizados.

I made this artistic work a long time ago so obviously I don't have the step by step documented but I do remember perfectly how I did it. The first step was to make the faces, which I drew and painted on the white sheets to later cut them out, then I took the blue and aqua green cardboard and with a pencil I drew a design on them that looked like a helmet or something like that and cut out. Finally I put the faces under the cardboard and glued them, just like the magazine photos, lastly, I drew a lightning bolt between the two faces using my metallic colors.

El rayo representa la ruptura entre los dos mundos presentes en una misma persona y que se enfrentan constantemente / The lightning bolt represents the rupture between the two worlds present in the same person and which constantly confront each other

Y así quedó mi collage, no gané el concurso pero me encantó el resultado final y por eso aún lo conservo 😁. Creo que podemos vivir en equilibrio aprovechando lo mejor que cada uno de estos mundos tiene para ofrecernos pero recordando siempre que no hay nada mejor que estar en contacto con la naturaleza, disfrutar de compartir con la familia y los amigos y nunca caer en la automatización de la tecnología ni acostumbrarse demasiado a esas comodidades disfrazadas que nos regala a cambio de arrebatarnos lo mejor de la vida 😉.

And this is how my collage turned out, I didn't win the contest but I loved the final result and that's why I still have it 😁. I believe that we can live in balance, taking advantage of the best that each of these worlds has to offer us but always remembering that there is nothing better than being in contact with nature, enjoying sharing with family and friends and never falling into the automation of technology or getting too used to those disguised comforts that it gives us in exchange for taking away the best in life 😉.
