Nature doesn't need people - people need nature; nature would survive the extinction of the human being and go on just fine, but human culture, human beings, cannot survive without nature.

- Harrison Ford -

Nature and the planet we live on is something I care about; everyone should I guess. The problem is that we tend to overuse it, ask more from it than it can possibly give, and simply don't give enough back in large enough quantities to help sustain a healthy and viable balance between our needs as humans and its needs as a planet. Having said that, it'll keep doing what it does, evolving and changing, and will one day simply cease to exist at all; that's just how it is. I think human beings will be long gone by then, like the dinosaurs are gone, destroyed by nature itself and after-effects of a Mt Everest-sized asteroid that struck the Earth some 66 million years ago.

Humans will be extinct and the planet will keep doing what it does.

We're not gone yet though and the current generation has the chance to enjoy nature and our planet even though we treat it like a garbage tip and never-ending resource.

Last week I decided to share out some of my Ecency points in exchange for a little posting-effort in the outdoors and more community by whomever decided to get involved - today I've transferred those points and wanted to share the content.

Each of those users below received 2,500 Ecency points.

I like one of the quotes from Pepe Mujica, former president of Uruguaiy and also known as "The poor president" for his living austerity.

Why do humans have to be considered better than ants?. Ants were here thousands years before and probably will be thousands more after humans disappear.

Nice to get out enjoying nature as we should, never know how long it will be available with change around every corner. Enjoy it now while it's there....

Earth without humans would survive on a very harsh conditions, very well said sir, I agree with you, it's such a pity for our nature that it was abused for being greed of humanity.

I was thinking before that what would happen if all humans will disappear? And as time goes by, my questions got answered, the earth will heal itself, all the man-made structures will collapse and after hundreds of years, the earth will go back to what it was before. It's such a nice thing to see but it's far from reality unless there was a catastrophe that will wipe out everything.

I think the plant will thrive with humans gone...and it's not far from reality I think, it's happened before, and humans are helping it along.

Thank you very much Galen! Congratulations to the others who put their effort for nature.

Apart from the points, for which I am very grateful, the flood of comments and interaction for the letter filled my soul. Writing it was the best. I enjoyed it very much. Thank you!

Man is just a transitional link to a stronger mind. Development will not stop at man; the mind that will replace man will cleanse the dirt that man has left on this Earth.

I'm pretty lucky that I have always grown up with a respect for nature. I think part of the problem lately is the people who don't have that background, but decided to get out into nature during the pandemic. They should have just stayed in the cities where they belong :)

Well, I think the problem goes a lot deeper than the post-pandemic issues and people getting out into nature. Humans are greedy, selfish assholes who are systematically destroying the planet in many ways.

Of course there's that too! :)

At the beginning of mankind the planet provided everything we needed to survive and thrive. Not only did it provide for our needs, but we knew intrinsically how to use what was available. Over thousands of years we have lost our way as a species and now depend on others to grow and procure food, build our houses, raise our children. We pay to transport ourselves wherever we want to go. We depend on someone else to keep us healthy and to fix us when we're broken. We need gadgets and gizmos galore, to make life easier and give us more time to go to work in order to make money to pay all of these people that do things for us.

That being said, I exhale as much carbon dioxide as I possibly can in exchange for the oxygen I need lol. Small payback, but hey.....it's a start! You're right, we cannot live without nature. Maybe in some futuristic world, but I won't be living then. I will be happy to feed the trees that have protected me my whole life through.

Yep, you say it well so nothing to add really.

Humans will meet an end eventually, all things end and to think otherwise is naive. The planet has been around for many millions of years, humans will not be...but neither you or I, or anyone else alive today, will be here to know that final moment.

All day I've been trying to look at Hive, to thank for the points and congratulate the other participants, but work wouldn't let me.

Honestly, I thought more of us would write on the subject of being in nature. But also a few quality posts, it was enough for me to enjoy the stories about the mountain, the forest, the seashore, the river, the waterfall...

We have become very arrogant and careless towards nature.
I am afraid that all movements and associations for the protection of nature, together, cannot cope with the increasing demands of the industry.

I was talking over the weekend with a friend who works in oil well exploration. He told me then :"as much as we destroy this planet of ours, one day it will come back to us that it will be bad for us"... I told him that planet will only return us as much evil as we gave her.
And we have done a lot of damage to our planet in the last 100-150 years...

We've been around for such a small amount of time in the planet's history...the sooner we're gone the better.

Finally, I discover who said that phrase; my grandpa used to repeat something similar when we went camping, but he always said he not remembered where he read it.

On the other hand, human beings must understand that noble nature belongs to us, and that we are just passing through this house we call Earth, but nature will remain here. This is why, when it is not respected, the disasters we are witnessing occur. However, if each person makes an individual effort, we add up to more than doing nothing. That’s why I loved the dynamic, and I was truly surprised to be among the fortunate ones. But what I would really like is for people to change their way of acting and become aware that nature is a loan we have from future generations.

Thank you, Mate, for bringing out everyone's creative side while also putting such an interesting topic in front of everyone.

And congratulations to the other lucky ones, they are great posts

Happy day Galenkp!. What you write here is something I've thought about many times, especially when I'm on a plane or on top of a mountain and everything looks peaceful, but I remember the chaos of the city. Nature can easily resume its thousands of years of normalcy at any time and we can just disappear. I wish everyone would understand this and help others to live in peace... I didn't know about this community, how cool! ✌️
