Repairing My Previous Laptop / Reparando Mi Laptop Anterior
About two months ago I sold my old laptop to buy the one I have now.
I remember that I sold it to a friend who has children and I told him to take good care of it, because I know how children treat things and I knew that they could damage it.
Well, he recently called me asking me to check the laptop because the kids had broken the screen and dropped it.
Hace aproximadamente dos meses vendí mi vieja laptop para comprarme la que tengo actualmente.
Recuerdo que se la vendí a un amigo que tiene hijos y le dije que la cuidara mucho, pues sé cómo los niños tratan las cosas y sabía que podrían dañársela.
Pues bien, hace poco me llamó pidiéndome que le revisara la laptop porque los niños le habían reventado la pantalla y la habían dejado caer.
When I found this out it hurt me, because at the time it was a laptop that spent a lot of time with me, in fact, it still has the decals I had put on it, I didn't take them off and my friend said they actually looked great on it.
Well, I went to pick up the laptop and took it home after checking the damage the kids at his house had done.
The damage did not seem to be serious but the first thing I did was to remove the decals, because with so much damage from the kids they already looked very ugly and I removed them, to clean it completely.
Cuando supe esto me dolió, porque en su momento fue una laptop que pasó mucho tiempo conmigo, de hecho, aún tiene las calcomanías que le había puesto, no se las quité y mi amigo dijo que de hecho se le veían genial.
Pues bien, fui a buscar la laptop y la llevé a casa tras revisar el daño que habían hecho los niños de su casa.
Los daños no parecían del todo graves pero lo primero que hice fue retirarle las calcomanías, pues con tanto deterioro de parte de los niños ya se veían muy feas y se las retiré, para limpiarla por completo.
It had many scratches, but in spite of everything I managed to clean all this surface and remove the excess glue that was left from the decals. It was clean in spite of everything.
Tenía muchos raspones, pero a pesar de todo logré dejarle limpia toda esta superficie y retirarle el exceso de pegamento que había quedado de las calcomanías. Quedó limpia a pesar de todo.
My friend told me that his screen had been smashed. I thought at first that's what he'd had, the screen, but no, it was one of the hinges that holds the screen, which isn't that bad but it's a problem nonetheless.
Mi amigo me dijo que le habían reventado la pantalla. Pensé en un primer momento que le habían roto eso, la pantalla, pero no, fue una de las bisagras que sujeta la pantalla, lo cual no es tan grave pero es un problema de todas formas.
With the problem identified, I removed the screws from the front cover of the display and removed it, exposing this area of the display.
Con el problema identificado, quité los tornillos de la cubierta frontal de la pantalla y la retiré, dejando al descubierto esta área de la pantalla.

When I moved it a little, it was clear that the support that holds the screen to the hinges, which allows the laptop screen to be opened and closed, had broken.
My friend did tell me that his kids were opening and closing the laptop all the time and that's probably why it broke. I fear for a future problem with the flex, but for now it works fine.
Al moverla un poco se veía claramente cómo se había roto el soporte que mantiene unida la pantalla a las bisagras, lo cual permite que se pueda cerrar o abrir la pantalla de la laptop.
Mi amigo sí me comentó que sus hijos abrían y cerraban la laptop a cada rato y que seguro por eso se reventó. Temo por un futuro problema con el flex, pero por ahora funciona bien.
Continuing with the repair, I removed the rest of the screws that hold the back cover to the screen together, to leave this area completely clear.
Continuando con la reparación, retiré el resto de los tornillos que mantienen unida la cubierta trasera con la pantalla, para dejar completamente despejada esta área.

On the other hand, I noticed that the covers themselves were damaged and had lost the threads where the screws that hold the hinges to the covers are attached.
I imagine that because of the torque that the screen itself makes on the hinge, not having all the screws well fastened, it ended up giving way in the most vulnerable area, which was right where it was burst.
Por otra parte, me di cuenta que las propias cubiertas tenían daño y habían perdido las roscas donde van los tornillos que mantienen unida las bisagras a las cubiertas.
Imagino que por el propio torque que hace la pantalla en la bisagra, al no tener todos los tornillos bien sujetos, esta terminó cediendo en el área más vulnerable, que era justo donde estaba reventada.
But this had to be repaired, so I prepared some plastic steel, an ideal material to make these repairs and started to glue all these little threads where the small screws of the cover fit.

Pero esto había que repararlo, así que preparé un poco de acero plástico, un material ideal para hacer estas reparaciónes y comencé a pegar todas estas rosquitas donde calzan los pequeños tornillos de la cubierta.

As I dried the plastic steel with which I had glued the threads on the covers, I concentrated on the bigger problem, the hinge breakage.
Mientras secaba el acero plástico con el que había pegado las roscas en las cubiertas, me concentré en el problema mayor, la ruptura de la bisagra.
Believe it or not, the problem is simple to solve. You simply have to use the plastic steel to reattach the pieces. I added as much as I could without deforming the piece, as the idea is to fit it perfectly in place.
Below you can see how the whole piece was covered with the plastic steel. You can even see that I did not cover the screw area, which can be removed even when the plastic steel has finished drying, along with the screen covers that should also dry.
Aunque no lo crean, el problema es simple de resolver. Simplemente hay que usar el acero plástico para volver a unir las piezas. Yo agregué tanto como pude sin deformar la pieza, pues la idea es que calce perfectamente en su lugar.
A continuación pueden ver cómo quedó toda la pieza cubierta con el acero plástico. Pueden ver incluso que no cubrí el área del tornillo, el cual se podrá retirar incluso cuando el acero plástico termine de secar, junto a las cubiertas de la pantalla que también deben secar.
I let the material rest for a whole day and the next day I reassembled everything.
I made sure everything was strong and yes, it did look sturdy, the laptop screen opened and closed properly, with no damage to the plastic steel that held the whole piece together.
I then put the back and front covers in place, securing it with the screws at each of the necessary points.
Dejé que el material reposara todo un día y al día siguiente volví a armar todo.
Me aseguré de que todo estuviera fuerte y sí, se veía aparentemente resistente, la pantalla de la laptop abría y cerraba correctamente, sin ningún tipo de deterioro en el acero plástico que sujetaba toda la pieza.
Luego coloqué las cubiertas traseras y frontales en su lugar, asegurándola con los tornillos en cada uno de los puntos necesarios.

Finally, I added some plastic steel to the deck joint to make it even stronger in that area and secured it with tape to hold the pieces together while the material dried for another day.
Finalmente agregué un poco de acero plástico en la unión de la cubierta, para que quedara aún con más fuerza en esa área y la aseguré con cinta para que sujetara bien las piezas mientras el material secaba durante todo un día más.
As I told you, my friend's kids had dropped this laptop several times so many soft parts and corner parts had blown off.
I had to glue them back together with the plastic steel and then let them dry.
Como les dije, los hijos de mi amigo habían dejado caer esta laptop varias veces así que muchas piezas blandas y partes de esquinas se habían reventado.
Tuve que pegarlas nuevamente con el acero plástico y entonces las dejé secar.

The next day, I removed all the tapes and checked that the laptop was in good condition, because evidently I not only did the repair of these faults, but I also did a basic cleaning, but I did not want to delve too much into this.
The point is that the repair had a good effect, a repair of the physical part of the equipment that will prevent further deterioration.
Al día siguiente, retiré todas las cintas y comprobé que la laptop estuviera en buenas condiciones, porque evidentemente no solo hice la reparación de estas fallas, sino que también le hice una limpieza básica, pero no quería ahondar demasiado en esto.
El punto es que la reparación tuvo un buen efecto, una reparación de la parte física del equipo que evitará que continúe deteriorándose.
As you can see, the equipment was almost almost like new, the repairs were not too noticeable but I certainly hope it stays that way.
I remember when I sold this computer it was in perfect condition, in fact I didn't want to sell it, but I had to do it in order to raise the money to buy a better laptop.

Como pueden ver, el equipo quedó casi casi como nuevo, no se notaban demasiado las reparaciones pero ciertamente espero que se mantenga así.
Recuerdo que cuando vendí este equipo estaba en perfecto estado, de hecho no quería venderla, pero tuve que hacerlo para poder reunir el dinero para comprar una laptop mejor.

Therefore, I make the reflection that it is impressive how a device can deteriorate in such a way when it is not given proper care. I consider that for the damage it received, the equipment is lucky to turn on. So, take care of your equipment because it is valuable and obtaining it requires effort, so the least we can do is treat it well.
My recommendation to my friend was to keep it open all the time and not to close it unless very necessary, as if it were a desktop computer.
This was with the intention of extending the life of the equipment and the repair itself that I did.
Por ello, hago la reflexión de que es impresionante cómo un dispositivo puede deteriorarse de tal manera cuando no se le da el cuidado adecuado. Considero que para el daño que recibió, el equipo tiene suerte de encender. Por eso, cuiden sus equipos porque son valiosos y obtenerlos requiere esfuerzo, así que lo menos que podemos hacer es tratarlos bien.
Mi recomendación para mi amigo fue que la mantuviera abierta todo el tiempo y que no la cerrara salvo que fuese muy necesario, como si fuese una computadora de escritorio.
Esto con la intención de alargar la vida útil del equipo y la propia reparación que le hice.

Que agridulce, primero porque es chimbo que los niños la hayan deteriorado, pero también porque pudiste repararla y dejarla funcional de nuevo. Me gustaron las calcomanías, lástima que hayas tenido que retirarlas, yo nunca he personalizado mis aparatos electrónicos por eso, siento que me dolerá ver cómo se deterioran mis bellas calcomanías. Siii es que es un amigo cercano, no se la vendí a un extraño. Además traté de hacer la mejor reparación posible para que le dure un poco mas.
Tengo una laptop pendiente por reparar, es muy vieja, le falta el disco duro. Apenas se lo compre instalo y trato de venderla.

Excelente la recomendación que le diste de que no la cerrara y que siempre quede abierta, es un problema lo del flex si se llegase a romper. Saludos bro!
Si y el me dijo que los niñosnla abrian y la cerraban indiscriminadamente, como si fuese unapuerta. Le va a durar nada ese flex si sigue así, de ahí la recomendación.

Que broma, que bueno que pudieras arreglarla algo para alargar un poco su tiempo de vida útil. Este tipo de cosas suele pasar, no esperaría que te llamaran. Pero significa mucho que la repararas luego de tanto tiempo.
Bueno es que es un amigo y además no le cobré la reparación aunque llevó trabajo. La idea era que volviera a tener su laptop bien y como era una laptop que fue mía pues también quería dejarla lo mejor posible.
Ay amigo @gaboamc2393 para mí que a ti se te cayó esa laptop y te da pena decir que fuiste tú jajajajaja, no mentira, pero más allá de quién fue quien la rompió,admiro demasiado a las personas que arreglan este tipos de cosas, pues para mí parece algo muy difícil. Bueno a mi se me cayó una vez, pero fue cuando la compré imagínate, sacándola de la caja. Pero por suerte no pasó nada. A mi amigo sí sela tumbaron los niños varias veces, imagínate el daño hecho jajaja
En mi caso no soy de darle ni mi teléfono, no la laptop a mis hijos. Rara vez mi teléfono al pequeño y él solo ve videos, pero esos niños son un peligro 🤣...

Que fuerte, pero al menos la pudiste reparar. Yo tampoco soy de dejarle las cosas a las niños pequeños, sus manitas son muy traviesas. Después de la experiencia con unos sobrinos, no me quedaron ganas.

Eso que mencionas es cierto, en las manos adecuadas y con el debido mantenimiento y cuidado las cosas puedan durar muchísimo; pero cuando son unos destroyers, pues ni modo.

Si, esos niños son una amenaza. El señor al que se la vendí es amigo mio y he ido a su casa, asi que puedo asegurar que los niños son unos terremoticos.
Y sí, Gora, una parte de mi se quebró ese día.
Tener un dispositivo electrónico ya sea una laptop o un teléfono requiere de mucho cuidado y estar al pendiente de que no se caiga, todo cambia cuando tienes niños porque es incluso más difícil que no lleguen a tocarlos o botarlos porque ya me han contado cosas así jajaajaj, por un lado es genial que hayas logrado repararla y por el otro tu amigo tendrá que estar muchísimo más atento para que no se dañe.
Si, los niños son muy inquietos jajaja pero aunque a veces dañen cosas, casi siempre hay maneras de repararlas.
Saludos tremendo toso ese trabajo que hiciste para así poder restaurar dicho equipo y volver a entregarlo como nuevo, sin duda a veces los equipos al momento de ser entregados ya sea por una venta, un regalo o incluso ya sea por cualquiera cosa que necesita y que al tiempo lo veas rotos, duele muchos, ya que no saber el sacrificio que uno tuvo que hacer para conseguirlos. Lo bueno es que cuentas con las herramientas y lograr solventar. Esperemos que la conserve.
Si vale, un trabajon el que se llevó esa laptop, 3 días chamo, pero bueno se logró el objetivo, a ver si la cuida como tu dices.
