The Big Picture: The End of Western Nation-States

Every nation will have to collectively ask itself which way to respond to this new paradigm of social technology.

Let their authority be chipped away by the distribution of power the internet/A.I. allows?

Or double down and use this tech to try and consolidate more power?

Brazil right now is opting for the latter.

But, at least for the West, I think the writing is on the wall--though it may take some time to shake out. The existing societal system of power known as the nation-state will necessarily be restructured.

These technologies are just too revolutionary in their effects on society. It's going to be a bumpy ride the next several decades.
