Contemplating the Ethics of Lying 'FOR A REASON

As I sit down to ponder the topic of lying "FOR A REASON," I can't help but remember all the morning devotion and training my parent has instilled in me. Can there truly be a valid reason to tell a lie? Is it ever justifiable to deceive someone, even if it's for what we believe to be a noble cause? Well, I have so many answers to this but for you to understand everything in this blog, you have to read it probably.

I find myself remembering this fact that my parent always say “telling a lie is evil and bad” but the more I grow and get older, it might seem like the lesser of two evils. Sometimes I ask myself “withholding the truth, and not saying anything can it be counted as lying too?” Most time we do this to protect someone from pain or prevent a negative outcome. But does that make it right? Or are we simply trying to justify our actions?

I watched a video some time back which talks about knowing when to say the truth. You see, sometimes it not advisable to always say the truth but I’m not telling you to lie.

In this video, the man said he visited his friend music show for the first time. This first was going into music newly and he has been inviting him for his show for a while now so he decided to visit. While the friend was performing on the stage, he made so many errors and it wasn’t perfect but he saw so much joy in his friends face while performing.

After the show was over and all the guest have left, his friend came to him and asked this question “How was my performance, did you enjoy yourself” Now the thing is, he doesn’t want to lie to his friend but at that moment, it wasn’t the right time to tell the truth because it would discourage him and it might even sore their friendship so what he did was say something truthful. He said

“I can’t believe I have missed this show for a long time, if I tell you I was contemplating about coming but I’m glad I came tonight and I did have a good time. How about we see some other time so I can discuss some things with you. I can see some people still want to meet with you”

They shake hands and bid each other goodbye. After some day, he invited him over and has already drawn out a plan on how to make his friend perform better. They had a productive conversation and every truth was said with a smile on the face.

So, where does that leave us? Can we truly navigate through life without ever bending the truth for what we perceive to be a justifiable reason? Or are we simply deluding ourselves into thinking that lying can be excused under certain circumstances?

So according to the story, we really don’t have to lie, we can choose when to say the truth, we can decide to keep quiet but if the truth needs to be said at a point to clarify things, then let it be said. Anyway, one thing is certain - the notion of lying "FOR A REASON" is a complex terrain that warrants careful reflection and consideration.

We trust and believe everything our parents tell us, believing that what they say will be best for us. If our parents guide us towards the truth, we soon understand that it is best for us. Then, as we move from childhood to adulthood, we have to face all the facts that our parents tell us, and the difference between lies and truth becomes clear.

Yeah, there are some things our parent do tell us which are lies but have some truth in them also
For example, I know a woman who do tell her girls “if a guy touches you on your Private part, you would get pregnant.”

Technically, that’s not true but there are truth to it

we really don’t have to lie, we can choose when to say the truth,

This sums it all.
Certainly there are a thousand ways to tam up a situation before the truth spill out!
It necessaryily doesn't have to come out as a lie first💯

Yeah
You’re right. You can build a person up before telling them the truth so they can understand better

Omo na true you talk o.

Lying for a reason or not is a very dicey topic that one has to be wise about.

Imagine the damage that would have been caused if the friend had told his musician friend the truth?

I also think that the way, manner and timing of saying the truth matters a lot.
