The role of science in agriculture can't be overemphasized because it has done significantly better things even though it's commonly said that whatever that has merit must definitely have a demerit. In this post, I would like to make my emphasis on the merit. From the ages as I was told and I kept growing up, one of the I noticed that was used as farm implement for cultivation was constructed local hoe. I could remember when we normally use it to farm even for commercial purpose hmmmm it saps lots of energy and at the end you realized that you can't farm very large portion of the land a day. Gradually there's an upgrade with the invention of tractor and herbicide which has really improved the farming activities. Hectares of land can easily be covered in a day with in a shortest period of time. This kind of impact has greatly transformed the agricultural sector.

What of in the area of hybrid seeds that we have today. I could remember when my dad used to plant maize which hardly bears comb more than one. With the recent innovation and scientific influences, there are hybrid seeds that can produce more than two comb in a stalk. This has reduced stress and pressure hence there is high productivity in maize cultivation.
In my location, there is a man that Norma harvest hundreds bags of maize at the end of a farming season. This is possible due to the scientific advancement which cut across the agricultural sector today. Improved fertilizer has reduced the years it takes for some crops to mature.
Weeding now doesn't require physical labor unlike in those days where there weren't herbicide to use. I went to my farm recently, I couldn't even carry a single hoe but just with knapsack tank to spray chemicals on the ground immediately after planting.

Another aspect I would like to share that technological advancement has positively affected the agricultural sector is in the area of transportation. Carmel and donkey was used as a means of transportation but the positive influence of science has changed the narrative to vehicle, lories, truck etc that we have today. This makes it possible for virtually all the farm produce to be conveyed home.
