NAVIGATING THE ETHICAL BOUNDARIES OF SCIENTIFIC PROGRESS

This is a crucial topic concerning the ethical implications of scientific and technical breakthroughs. There are many examples of science pushing the boundaries in ways that create moral and ethical problems for the world, are they doing good or more harm?

One of the major developments I love most is the creation of military and surveillance technologies this is one of the technologies that spring to mind Several serious ethical concerns regarding the use of force, privacy protection, and misuse have been brought up by the advancement of ammunition, robotic aircraft, and surveillance systems. If not for technology all this can never come through, the fact that drones can be able to capture criminals without them suspecting anything or the creation of bombs and how to diffuse them is a kudos to them.

Also, Science has helped in many ways by inventing a robot that can help with the house chores, sending the robot from one angle to the other, this has reduced the workload of many people, and even robots are now part of the people in the world today and this is part of the benefit we are enjoying which is the work of science.

Last week I was reading online when I came across the issue of genetic engineering, I took my time to read through and I was exclaimed about what and how science has changed the world entirely, technology has gone too far in terms of genetic engineering and human augmentation. The ability to edit human genes to potentially create "designer babies" or improve physical and cognitive capacities poses serious considerations about the nature of humanity, the risk of establishing disparities, and the implications for the future of such interventions.

I believe God created everyone in his image but science never agrees about that, they never believe in anything called God, their theory is that some set of people invented the world and created everything in it, science has gone beyond imagination and this is what is causing the problem in the world today.

I believe there are areas where scientific research and innovation are desperately needed but have been neglected or overlooked such field is Climate research, they can only predict the weather but never have access to change the weather or climate, if you are in Nigeria you can attest to the rate at which heat is suffocating people in the country, the country is very hot now, I was chatting with my brother last week and he was telling that the Angel that was in charge of the weather that day doesn't have mercy on us because the heat was too much if science could have power over that then I believe most thing will never be like this. There will be a development of sustainable solutions to meet climate change's existential threat.

Another area that people could benefit from more scientific attention is mental health. While our understanding of the brain and the treatment of mental health issues has advanced significantly, much more remains to be studied. The scientific community should prioritize developing more effective medicines, understanding the intricate interplay of biological, psychological, and social components, and providing access to high-quality mental health care.

Millions of people in the world suffer from mental health illnesses like depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), yet the underlying causes and effective treatments are still mostly unknown. More funding for mental health research may provide ground-breaking findings that will improve our understanding and approach to these difficult problems, eventually enhancing the lives of people impacted.

This is my entry for this week's episode of hivelearners community prompt of #hl-w111e2 which the topic is "SCIENCE TOO FAR"

Hello there, Eunice. I hope this meets you well. There’s no doubt that technology has done a lot for humans, but we are taking things too far. I watched a video on Instagram. The video is all about genes, and science. A scientist plays with genes of different animals and humans, and mixes everything to create a new animal.

This is not the way to go at all.

their theory is that some set of people invented the world and created everything in it, science has gone beyond imagination and this is what is causing the problem in the world today.

Oh yes, and other people's theory is that from an "abracadabra" and a "kabooom" the universe came into being. Who is it that has an overflowing imagination? 😉

Everything with an advantage has a disadvantage, the military surveillance is a welcomed development.

I have known scientists not to agree or believe that God created the world and everything in it. Their urge and curiosity to invent things beyond their knowledge is what is making things go extremely bad for us today. Though, their advancements are what is making life easier for us but they are doing some things in the wrong way which is affecting us and even the world today.
