Yes, you just have to download the Robotaxi app. That's great timing on your part. There should be several hundred of these released to the network by October. They do have seatbelts since you're essentially riding in the front seat. Business-wise I think the plan is that entrepreneurs will buy fleets of them to run as a taxi business. Tesla will also continue to operate company-owned Cybercabs in select cities. Individuals will be able to buy as many as they want too (or just one) then turn the cars over to the network when they aren't using them. That will be awesome if you get to experience one.

Oh, okay, so you ride in the front not the back. That makes sense then. Seems like it could be an exciting shift in the status quo. It will be interesting to see what the pricing is like compared to a traditional Uber. It would also be interesting to see how open to trying it out my travel companions will be!
Yes, it's just a two-seater and the pricing is 2-3x cheaper than Uber/Lyft. Autonomous taxis take a minute to get used to. I rode in a Waymo in Austin and it was actually very relaxing and comfortable but was really tricky to summons using the Uber app. I imagine the Robotaxi app will do a better job in that regard.
I'm definitely going to keep this in mind!
With any luck I'll be back to Austin in November for the Shareholder Meeting and I'll try it too. They had a few Model Y's operating on the Robotaxi network when I was there last year but it was nearly impossible to get one so I had to resort to Waymo. Lol.
