My Absence and a Recap of an Exciting Week

(Edited)

My life has been a bit of a whirlwind these past few weeks. As always, I found myself missing my regular writing here on Hive and interacting with you all. I haven’t shared much about what we’ve been up to this summer but we’ve been hard at work trying to find a new place to live. After three months of searching and touring dozens of homes we found a beautiful house twenty minutes south of the Twin Cities.

House.jpeg

Our new abode will give us quite a bit more room and loads of natural light. I’ll finally have an office to call my own so you should be hearing a lot more from me in a few weeks. It’ll be a welcomed change from the rising crime and noise of the city. As we’ve been packing up our condo these last few days the memories have come flooding back of our time here. We've made some great memories in this little condo but it'll be nice to wipe the slate clean and close this chapter of our lives.

Tesla.jpg

Also, at long last I’ll have a garage to plug in my Tesla. In a bit of divine timing Amazon had the Tesla Wall Connector discounted so I pulled the trigger.

Speaking of Tesla…

We.jpeg

Elon Musk has repeatedly said this year that,“The Future Should Look Like the Future”. The Tesla “We, Robot” event on 10/10 introduced a glimpse of exactly that…the company’s focus for the next decade and to a lot of peoples’ surprise it’s not regular cars but fully autonomous ones. I, honestly, think this is a smart move on their part. Although focusing primarily on autonomy is a gamble, if the public accepts it Tesla will easily be a decade ahead of their competitors.

Cyber.jpeg

The RoboTaxi and RoboVan are gorgeous vehicles that have something big in common, the lack of driver controls. Tesla’s lead designer Franz von Holzhausen has hit two home runs this time, in my opinion. The CyberCab borrows design cues from both the CyberTruck and Model 3, while the RoboVan draws heavily on Art Deco design, especially from 1930’s locomotives.

Train.jpeg

Autonomy will reshape our world in surprising ways. One example of this is, eventually, parking lots will be obsolete and can be turned into parks and green space. Thanks to visionaries like Musk and his team of forward thinking engineers the future is going to be incredible.

Fifteen Years

Wed.jpeg

My wife and I celebrated our fifteen year wedding anniversary last week. Time is a curious thing. In some ways it seems like we've lived lifetimes together but yet at the same time these years have gone by in the blink of an eye. As we stood there in the courthouse before the judge on that chilly October afternoon and said “I do” I never could have dreamed of all the exciting twists and turns our lives would take.

If You Listen to One Podcast This Week…

…please make sure it’s this one. In this episode of JRE Calley and Casey Means discuss the root causes of the existential health crisis here in America. It will absolutely blow your mind. It certainly blew mine. After listening to this so much of what ails us here in the US makes sense.

That’s all for now.

Be well and make the most of this day. Thank you for reading!

I was going to send the podcast to you! Immediately thought of you when I started listening for some reason :)

Congratulations to you both! That's impressive. I hope you have many more wonderful years of joy and adventure together. And it sounds like congratulations are in order on the house, too. It's gorgeous.

The stuff of dreams (but also nightmares, in some scenarios), what Elon's doing there, but I think ultimately he makes a solid point. We can't be pussyfooting about the future. We're living exciting times.

It was such a good one! I couldn't believe RJ Reynolds and Phillip Morris bought up over 50% of the processed food companies in America and then applied the science involved with making cigarettes addictive to our food supply. This explains why Americans feel so much better when they travel abroad!

Thank you @honeydue! I'm excited about the new house. It'll be fun to get settled and make it our own. The lawn care and snow removal are taken care of too so when we're able to travel again we won't have that to worry about. It's kind of the best of both worlds, the flexibility of having a home with the convenience of a condo.

We are living in exciting times. I trust Tesla's ethics more than I do other companies as long as Elon is at the helm. Let's pray he lives for a really long time.

Congrats! I see a garden in your future.

Love that video!!! Wow! Only fifteen minutes people, but excellent. Please watch it.

Thank you! Most definitely. I'm going to push the limits of the HOA and maybe get a few raised beds installed in the back.

It's so freaking good! I feel like this is the first time someone has stitched together the entire dystopian picture of our American health crisis. The entire podcast is over two hours but this clip is just a fifteen minute teaser.

I tried to watch the whole thing on spotify, but could only get the first hour to play. We all know this on some level, or I do anyway, because it's obvious. But since our medical system is a belief system, most of it's followers are unable to see the disparities. Before watching this I had already started thinking the best way to stay healthy is to stay away from those quacks. Now I am 100% sure of it. Emergency services and some surgery excepted, medicine is a trap and a slave system. We must stop feeding it with our bodies.

Hmm, strange! I listen to these through the Spotify app on my phone. I totally agree about steering clear of the medical system. It's 100% compromised by big pharma. "Chronic" diseases (which were rare in the past) were always corrected with diet and lifestyle changes in the past and not with meds. Our food is poisoned causing the chronic illnesses then Big Pharma sells us medications to fix the problem that the system caused. It takes real work to eat healthy in America. Corporations are constantly attacking labeling standards so soon people won't even be able to determine what's healthy and what isn't in a grocery store. Locally raised/grown food will be the only option at that point.

Oh great, 🥰 that's good to hear that you have found a beautiful place to live. Enjoy your stay there.

It is quite difficult when we think about shifting house because it is not easy to find a place where we can afford everything. It was difficult and troubled but when we got the house it was beautiful and later there was a lot of happiness because where we lived earlier there was a lot of traffic issue it was an inner city area now we are a colony. I have shifted.

This is true. It took us quite a while to find a home with everything we wanted at a reasonable price. It paid to take our time and be choosey though, it worked out in the end.

Good luck in your new home, going from a condo to a house is a nice move.

I like the looks of the Tesla cars. Maybe in my dreams, I will drive one, lol.

Thank you! We're really going to appreciate the additional room. It wasn't easy living in 700sq ft these past six years. The Teslas are about to get a whole lot cheaper. The base level Model 3 is now cheaper than a Corolla or Civic, I believe. Their economy car, coming out next year, will be even less expensive.

Congrats again on the new home. Those images remind me of the vehicles in the movie iRobot. Congrats on your anniversary as well. We celebrate our 16th in a little bit here.

Thanks! They're very similar to iRobot. Kind of freaky. Cheers to 16 years! I had no idea you two had been married that long. You must've been really young when you were married.

Haha, no, we are just really old now! We actually didn't meet until a lot later in life that most people find their partners. I wish we had, but I don't know if the timing would have been right then.

Enjoy your new home, Eric. Home is heaven for someone. Therefore, we must choose a house that is comfortable and can make us happy. Your wedding photos are amazing. Yes, time really flies very quickly. God bless you.

Congratulations on your wedding anniversary! Wishing you many wonderful adventures on this beautiful planet.

Congratulations on your new home! It looks wonderful. So happy you get your desired office space, and more importantly, you're out of the city.

Thanks for sharing the podcast episode. I bookmarked it for later. A couple of days ago, I listened to the episode where he had Billy Carson on the show (JRE 2160). Give it a listen when you have some spare time; it's eye-opening.

Thanks, Krisz! I cannot wait to be out of the city. As we're packing up we're getting plenty of reminders from the universe that we made the right decision to leave.

You're welcome! I listened to the Billy Carson ep. It was incredible. I love how he's pieced together the narrative of the Annunaki and their influence on our species.

Billy is insanely well-researched and documented. I've read a couple of his books and have been following his insights for quite some time. I've been to Egypt numerous times but always underwater 🤣 However, I want to visit Luxor and the pyramids and get his perspective on Ancient history, not the mainstream regurgitated nonsense.

Getting out of the city was a smart move. I'm swapping cities myself, from London to Budapest. I expect things to be quite nasty in these places when the "bubbles" (among others, the financial and health ones) burst.

Yes! We're looking forward to wiping the slate clean and starting fresh. It'll be great to put some of the reminders of the pandemic years behind us. Thank you and I hope you've been well! I had a Ukrainian beer the other day. It was a Lvivske porter. Delicious!

Wow, how nice! I am glad you like it. I like their beer as well, but my favorite is Lvivske Rizdvyane. They brew it every year especially for Christmas :)

It's great to start a new, fresh stage. I'm even a little jealous 😉😊

I looked that beer up and it sounds delicious. I'll have to ask them at Moscow on the Hill if they can get that beer from their distributor. This restaurant is right across the street from us and they have the best Russian/Ukrainian food. I hope you have have a fresh start very soon. Maybe peace will come for you after this next US election. I'll be praying for that.

Your new home looks beautiful Eric, I love the design, and the light colours! Wishing you many happy years there. I can imagine the stress of the move, but fabulous that you'll be away from the city, and will have more air and light in your home. Enjoy🏡

I appreciate that Lizelle! It checked all the right boxes for us. Real estate prices are out of control here but this property came in about $80k less than many of the others we looked at of similar condition and square footage. It passed the home inspection with flying colors too. We feel lucky to have snapped it up before anyone else did. I hope you have a wonderful week!

Good morning dear friend @ericvancewalton
How great that after so much wandering you have found your new home, the house is beautiful with lots of natural light and a gorgeous front
Moving is a stressful and exhausting job.
My best wishes for your fifteenth wedding anniversary

Thank you my friend! I always forget how exhausting moving is...I think it's kind of like how women forget how bad the pain of childbirth is. I suppose if we remembered exactly how chaotic moves are we'd never do it again. : )
