LUNA SUPERCAERULEA, SUPERMOON BLUEMOON  A COSMIC RARITY

Planet Earth’s only natural satellite, the moon has been around for a very long time, there are theories which speculate its formation but none have been totally proven.

It is the brightest and largest object in the night sky, it would be a large threat if werewolves existed.It plays a crucial role in planets earth’s climate and ocean tides. It has a radius of 1080 miles [1740 kilometers] about the same width as Madagascar. It orbits around earth every 27 days and is tidally locked to earth i.e. ( one side is always facing earth)

“Once in a blue moon” is a cliché expression which is used to express something rare, it refers to an extra full moon in a calendar year: nevertheless, it has been used to describe the way the moon looked when it had turned a blueish color.

“Although it will not look blue, as the third full moon in a season with four Moons, this will be a Blue Moon"This was the first recorded statement in English from 1528 which used the word blue Moon, other names include Sturgeon Moon, Green Corn Moon, Barley Moon, the Herb Moon, The Dog Moon.

When the moon is full and is closer to earth than normal, its known as a supermoon because it appears brighter and larger than it normally is, it is the opposite of a micro-moon.

The term supermoon is not an official astronomical term and was coined by astrologer Richard Noelle in 1979, he defined it as a full moon within 90 percent of its closest point to earth. In astronomy, they are officially called perigean full Moons.

The moon will appear full and last for three days, from Sunday morning,18th August through Wednesday morning 21st August. The last time such an event occurred was August 2023 and the next super blue Moons are projected for January and March of 2037. Only a quarter of full Moons are super Moons and only 3 percent of full Moons are blue Moons.

A blue Moon resonates with the idea of growth and wisdom, its also believed to grant renewed opportunities, a cosmic redo card if you will. It is not event to be missed.
