Came to see the dinosaurs, returned with rocks
Another run to the Museum of Ancient Life. Another batch of rocks returned home. We postponed this trip almost a month ago. The kids got sick at different times and forced us to replan.
Part of the fun of going to the museum with my friends and our kids is that the children spent time exploring the exhibits. This left time for the adults to catch up and discuss things surrounding our daily lives.
Afterward, the group went for late lunch at Cafe Rio. I found it funny how the kids all became well-mannered and finished all their food when they were together. I'm not sure if it was because they wanted to appear good to each other or something else.
I always like to pick up a few things at the gift shop as mementos that we were there.
From left to right: petrified wood, natural ruby, and obsidian.
These items gave opportunities for educational moments where we read more into them. The most important thing is that I spent time with my own child. Next up, find fun things to do for spring break.

That's cool. Sounds like you had an awesome day. I'm excited for Spring Break as well.
It makes parenting easier when there's a natural flow of direction.
Part of me wants to say, "did you pick up enough Obsidian to make a portal?" - can you guess what I've been playing with my son lots? lol
Never found any of those on my travels. I was shown petrified wood when I was on Ohio though, which was interesting!
I purposely didn't pick up enough obsidian to prevent an interdimensional accident.
If you ever do - see if you can find my pickaxe lol
they are cool, did you paid any money to buy these rocks ?
Yeah.
how much ?
Probably around $15 for all 3.
aren't they expensive ? 15$ for just some rocks ?
It's my money. I can do whatever.
I want those rocks. The natural ruby looks different, is there a bigger concentrate of that red stuff within? I've seen a pea sized amethyst encased in natural rock.
Idk. I would have to chip away everything around it.
The pieces of rocks you took home looks beautiful. A piece of rock or stone can tell us many things. As a grain of sand on the beach tells us its journey from mountain side. It is always fun to study them.
I used to have a small collection as well.
Cool dude. Can't tell you anything about the petrified wood, but ruby(corundum) looks like it could have come from Montana, but most likely Sri Lanka. The obsidian is actually snowflake obsidian due to the cristobalite inclusions. You can find it in between Milford & Delta here: https://goo.gl/maps/6s4TpYLhuFKsM6ht6
I've been there and there is TONS of it. Really fun to collect at.
That is really impressive!
There is a museum here in a city in Portugal where you can see live scientists preparing dinosaur fossils:0
We have demonstration here too, but I couldn’t get a good photo of it since everyone was crowding in front of the display.
All these colourful rock's looks so beautiful. One should go to such places, it removes tension from the mind of a person, what a person does. One should go to such places, it removes tension from the mind of a person, Man enjoys a lot.
I think kids were good to each other to show others that they're good enough and you pick up really good pieces 🤍
