A lot has changed about the world we used to know, the way we see it and how we interact. A lot has shifted and the most ironic part is, it feels normal. Gone are those days when everything used to be so physical. We had physical jobs, physical ways of learning, trading e.t.c Now everything has been digitalized. What made the transformation a lot easier is the internet and digital currency.
In those days, one of the hindrance of offering online services is due to the issue of processing payments, with the aid of digital currency and cryptocurrency, anyone could pay anyone from anywhere for services rendered. Now we no longer seek physical jobs, some still do but everyone has some kind of online side hustle. We are now heroes behind computers, some people only exist online but lack physical connection with the world.
What if such a person dies, won't they become digital ghost? Hypothetically, since they never had physical connection with the world, the only territory they are familiar to is the internet. That means their soul will somehow find it's way into their computer, now I'm wondering, what exactly will such ghost be doing?
I have this thing about dead people with existing social media accounts, it usually creeps me out, whenever I come across the account of deceased person. The account is no longer active but just by encountering the account, strange thoughts always go through my mind. Now imagine if the account was actively being used by a digital ghost, someone that is physically dead but digitally alive, it will be the most creepy thing. Things like this only occur in stranger things.
Encountering such a ghost won't be funny, my first thought would be; is this a prank or virus. One of my friends sometime ago, picked up his dead father sim, inserted it into his phone and called his father's relative, to remind them of the promised made to him while his father was till alive. It wasn't funny, some of those people nearly pissed in their pants. This is how scary things like this can be, our brain easily gets scared of anything ghost related.
For someone like me, there is a reason I don't mess with horror movies, if I were to encounter a digital ghost, I will first format my phone like 5 times and if the issue still persist, it is either I take all my digital device for deliverance or I say bye bye to the digital world, I have seen enough creepy stuff in my lifetime.
