Conditions Associated With Male Genital Pain You Should Know

Millions of males around the world experience pain in their genitals. Some are mild, and some are excruciating, while some people would think that it is caused by bacterial infections at all time, the reqlity is that it isn’t caused by bacteria all the time. So let’s discuss the pain in the male urinary tract (penis).

One reason why people experience pain in the Penis is as a result of a disease known as Peyronie’s disease which is disease associated with the development of scar tissue (fibrous plaque) on the dorsal side of the urethra. This can lead to the bending of the penis during erections usualy in the dorsal direction, although this can go in any other direction and it leads to pain.

While the exact cause of Peyronie’s disease is not entirely known, people who suffer from the disease can have erectile disfunction, sexual intercourse difficulty, and shortening of the penis. It is believed to be caused by trauma or injury to the penis which then doesn’t heal properly leading to scaring and plaque. This disease can either mild or severe, appearing either suddenly or gradually. Well, for lucky people, the scaring can go by itself but for so many men, Treatment is required. The treatment would include medication, injection on the scar tissue itself, and traction therapy but as you might expect, if these treatment options fail, surgery will be the best option.

Now that you know about Peyronie’s disease, let me talk about Testicular Trauma, which is another condition that can cause pain. Yes, this is very common. You know that pain a guy feels when a lady kicks their testicles? That’s it. While it might sound funny, with my illustration it is real, extremely painful, and can rupture the testicles but this doesn’t happen often.

With the pain starting from the testicles, it looks like it begins to move to the abdomen, precisely the lower abdomen. While the abdomen isn’t feeling the hit, the pain is referred. That said, let’s discuss a bacteria cause.

Acute Bacteria prostatitis is the inflammation of the prostate gland as a result of a bacterial infection. This is commonly caused by e.coli but can also be caused by Neiseria Gonorrhea, as well as the bacteria that causes clamydia. People who have this bacterial condition suffer acute perineal pain, fever, pelvic pain, myalgia, Malaise, increased urinary frequency which is extremely painful and could appear cloudy. The bacteria gets in to the prostrate through the urethra to the urinary tract. Treatment would be the use of antibiotics

Another condition that can cause pain is Testicular torsion which is when the testicles rotate within the scrotum, twisting the spermatic cord. The spermatic cord is responsible for carrying blood to the testes and with the twisting, blood to the testicle is reduced and if not resolved early enough can lead to the necrosis of the testes which would lead to the removal of the testes. In this condition, treatment is usually surgical as the testicle would be untwisted allowing blood flow through the spermatic cord possibly again. This surgery is known as an Orchiopexy.

That said, allow me to share one more cause of pain in the penis, and that is Fournier’s gangrene. So you know, this is a bacteria infection that is rare but extremely serious. It affects the deep soft tissues of the penis and the perineum (area between the anus and the penis). This gangrene is a type of Necrotising Fasciitis where the perinium and the deep soft tissues begin to die. Bacteria such as E.coli, Staph aureus, and Streptococci are responsible for this condition and they can get into the area of the skin through opening of the skin such as with wounds or injury in the genital area.

People who are immunocompromised with excessive use of catheter can also experience this condition. Treatment would immediately begin with broad spectrum antibiotics as well as surgery to remove dead cells and tissues so as to prevent the spread of the infection.
