Let's walk together | The beacons of knowledge
When I take a walk from home or the office, my feet take me wherever my mind points.

Near the office where I work, there is an abandoned building, inside which drunks, drug addicts and homeless people sleep, take drugs and do their physiological needs.
The structure was part of a beautiful government project, which built information centers next to the main public schools, with computers and free internet access, for the consultation and research of all students and the general public. The inauguration was a great event, both for the beauty of the physical structure and for the educational, recreational and cultural activities that took place around it. They were called "info-centers" or "Lighthouses of Knowledge".
Many of these lighthouses were built throughout the country. In the city where I live (which is actually two cities in one) there are two of these structures. The first Lighthouse that I present is in total abandonment and is located near my office and the other, which is much further away, is occupied by administrative offices of government agencies; to get there I had to walk much further, deviating from my usual route.

La estructura fue parte de un bonito proyecto del gobierno, que construyó al lado de las principales escuelas públicas unos centros de información, con computadoras y acceso gratuito a internet, para la consulta e investigación de todos los estudiantes y público en general. La inauguración fue un gran acontecimiento, tanto por la belleza de la estructura física como por las actividades educativas, recreativas y culturales que se desarrollaban en su entorno. Fueron llamados “info-centros” o “Faros del saber”.
Fueron construidos muchos de estos Faros a lo largo de todo el territorio del país. En la ciudad donde vivo (que en realidad son dos ciudades en una) hay dos de esas estructuras. El primer Faro que presento se encuentra en total abandono y se encuentra cercano a mi oficina y otro, que está mucho más retirado, se encuentra ocupado por oficinas administrativas de organismos del gobierno; para llegar allí me tocó caminar mucho más, desviándome de mi ruta acostumbrada.
Unfortunately, the computers and furniture were stolen or damaged by criminals, since the government, after some time of operation, abandoned these projects, suppressing resources, supplies, personnel and surveillance.
Nowadays, where technology has advanced so much and most of the population has access to internet from their cell phones, and at the same time almost everyone has a smart phone at hand, these "Beacons of Knowledge" would have lost their initial intention, being relegated only to the lower income sectors of the population.
Lamentablemente, las computadoras y el mobiliario fueron robados o dañados por delincuentes, ya que el gobierno, después de un tiempo de funcionamiento abandonó esos proyectos, suprimiendo recursos, insumos, personal y vigilancia.
Hoy en día donde la tecnología ha avanzado tanto y la mayor parte de la población tiene acceso a internet desde el celular, y al mismo tiempo casi todos tienen un celular inteligente a la mano, estos “Faros del saber” habrían perdido su intención inicial, quedando relegados solo para los sectores de la población de más bajos recursos.
How many more good projects were abandoned in oblivion in this blessed but strangely governed land?
I as a lover of architecture and photography can only present these structures that produce me a deep sadness to see good intentions thrown to the trash and reduced to nothing.

Interesantes faros, que en un momento sirvieron para una noble labor , creo que debieron reconvertirse y cambiar su proyección , no ser reducidos a nada, además con esa hermosa estructura. Es una pena que no haya forjado otro lindo proyecto , gracias por mostrarnos amigo 👍
Efectivamente, en algun momento fueron empleados por las comunidades para actividades culturales como danza y teatro, pero la falta de apoyo terminó tambien con esas iniciativas.
Un final muy triste para esas bonitas estructuras e intenciones.

Para nuestra desgracias, la decidia y el abandono son factoras comunes de muchos de nuestros gobiernos, que centran sus energías en otras actividades, dejando relegados los proyectos que no les aportan beneficios.

the same thing happens in my country. there are many good projects with interesting architecture that are ultimately abandoned. very sad. but that's the reality of what happened. Most people just want to make a project to get money from the government, then after that they leave.
