As the god of fire and blacksmithing, the god Hephaestus mastered his work very well and created numerous masterpieces that often had magical qualities and one of his main tasks was to produce the weapons or armor for the other gods and for him was nothing impossible and he could produce pretty much everything he wanted. He is even considered the creator of robots from ancient times that could carry out automated processes and this can also be considered a metaphor for the creation of artificial intelligence and the best-known example is probably the giant made of bronze named Talos who was able to perform automated processes and had different mechanical properties and was wished by Zeus to protect the Princess Europa on the island of Crete. Talos automatically detected when enemy ships approached the island and threw the invaders with stones and in order to increase protection, Talos automatically made rounds around the island several times a day and in addition to the protection of Europa, he also had the task of defending the inhabitants and Hephaestus built Talos with different defense mechanisms. To make his work easier, he also created two robotic helper for which he used gold and these helped him to move better and support him in his work and these robots were also able to carry out automated processes and had precise mechanics and he also built tripods made of gold which should serve in Mount Olympus and moved on wheels and helped other gods to do things more easily. In some legends there is also talk that he forged bronze bulls which appear in the history of the Argonauts and Homer also reported of guard dogs that he had made of silver and gold that should protect a palace of a king. The best-known automated work is probably the well-known woman Pandora which he created with clay on behalf of Zeus which he wanted to use to punish humanity and Pandora had a box that was full of suffering, illness and other bad things that should reach humanity and Pandora was considered a beautiful woman who could behave in the same way and the creation of an artificial human can also be considered a metaphor for the Homunculus.
