Talos in Greek Mythology
Hey dear community, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my new post and hope you had a day that has brought many interesting experiences into your lives! Today I would like to talk a little about mythology and hope you are able to expand your knowledge.
Here you can see some works of art that are supposed to represent the giant called Talos, which is a artificially created creature by the god of fire and blacksmithing Hephaestus and to visualize this theme better, I have used artificial intelligence to create these works. This is an interesting example when it comes to the creation of artificial beings and Hephaestus was also considered a creator of other artificial beings and in another legend he also created the beautiful Pandora from clay and for Talos he used bronze and it is also considered a prototype of a robot and could execute automated commands. He was specially desired by Zeus who commissioned it from Hephaestus and Talos should be stationed on the island of Crete to take care of the Princess Europa who is also considered a beloved of Zeus and for everyone who would like to know more about this legend, I can recommend visiting this post here where I have already gone into more detail about the abduction of Europa which was represented by the painter Leo von König (1871 - 1944). In another legend Daedalus is considered the creator of Talos and there are also other legends that he could already come from the Bronze Age and other figures as his possible producers also appear and the best-known traditions about him come from the author Hesiod as well as Plato and it is often also said that he was created for the king of Crete minos. That he could efficiently take care of Europa, he ran around the island several times a day and when he should see ships that wanted to approach the island, he threw them with stones and he also had other skills to defend attackers and his armor was considered extremely robust and there were few opportunities to defeat him. For the emergency, he had also installed some mechanisms and so there were even views that he could even fly and he had also the task of protecting the other inhabitants of Crete and generally ensure for order and the most famous legend in which he appears is the journey of the Argonauts who even managed to destroy him and they succeeded in a strategic way and managed to remove a part of Talos from his body so that the liquid metal leaked from his interior. Talos is, so to speak, the first robot or artificial intelligence from Greek mythology and definitely a very mystical creation of Hephaestus, which is considered a very mysterious technological being.
