Hey dear community, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my new post and hope you were able to have a day that brought some interesting experiences into your life! In this post, I would like to discuss an interesting topic and hope you can expand your knowledge.

Recently I have already wrote something about gamma radiation and here I would like to discuss the alpha and beta rays and in order to visualize this topic a little better, I have used artificial intelligence for the creation of these artworks. While gamma rays are electromagnetic waves with a small length and alpha or beta radiation does not consist of waves but particles and alpha radiation is an ionizing radiation that has only a limited range and can be shielded relatively easily by thin materials, but it is not completely harmless and contact can lead to damage to the cellular structure. Often paper is enough to effectively shield it and the range in the air is only a few centimeters while Beta radiation can move a few meters and it is particle radiation and both types are of great interest in research and there are numerous interesting areas of application. Alpha radiation is caused by two charged helium nuclei and beta radiation is much smaller and moves faster and the formation can be traced back to electrons and positrons which are emitted by atomic nuclei and similar it is also relatively easy to shield with the help of cement or aluminum, but if there is direct contact this can lead to problems and penetrate deep into the skin and lead to complications. Beta radiation is especially used in nuclear medicine where it is used to irradiate diseases and also the small range of alpha radiation makes it particularly interesting for medical or research purposes and if you would like also to learn more about gamma rays, I can recommend this article here where I have already gone into the topic in more detail.
