Alchemy and Technology

Hey dear community, at the beginning I would like to welcome you all to my new post and hope you had a day that brought some interesting experiences into your life! In this post, I would like to discuss alchemy and hope you are able to expand your knowledge.

Since the beginning, the alchemists have been very engaged to find ways to simplify their work and this led to the fact that more and more tools and technologies have been developed that had simplified the work. A good example are technologists who were important for the practical side of alchemy such as methods for extraction or distillation as well as other things and you can definitely see how the technologies improved more and more and new ways were also found to simplify research. Also from a chemical point of view, the alchemists have made some technical progress and so it was discovered in the 17th century that people could create light with the help of phosphorus and the alchemists were masters in creating supernatural phenomena with the help of chemical reactions and there were thousands of different experiments in this regard. The alchemists were very fascinated by occult sciences and supernatural phenomena since the beginning and so there was a lot of research on levitation, magnetism and other phenomena and as between the 17th and the 18th century the chemistry emerged from the alchemy, the alchemy continued to exist and there was a strong change and the focus was now on exploring the cause of certain phenomena and in this regard many technologies were also developed to research certain reasons and even when it comes to magnetism there are interesting views and already the Swiss doctor and alchemist Paracelsus wrote about the use of magnets. One who was very enthusiastic about his research was the Austrian doctor Anton Mesmer (1734 - 1815) who was fascinated of magnetism and even found that people could be cured with the power of magnets and this even over longer distances and he developed a special device with which he healed numerous people with magnets in his own clinic and the famous composer Mozart was also considered one of his patients. Even when it comes to make visible of supernatural phenomena, there were interesting developments with the help of graphics and even when it came to the encryption of messages, the alchemists were very creative and developed a kind of invisible ink that could then be made visible again to decrypt the message. It can be said that some phenomena had been known to the alchemists for a long time, but were packed into the category of magic and in modern times between the 17th and 18th century, the cause of these phenomena began to be explained more and more intensively and for this purpose, numerous technologies were developed and it is definitely an interesting topic how technology and alchemy merge.
