The mad scientist and the Delta Station.
Second entry in my survival journal.
I've made some progress and already have some tools that will make my day-to-day life in the depths easier. If I had to choose my favorite tool, it would definitely be the slider, although the small knife has also proven to be very useful.
Little by little I'm getting used to the idea that I'll be underwater for some time, so the night noises don't scare me so much. I take advantage of the hours of sunlight to explore and collect resources, while at night I create new tools and materials in order to improve the base.
A few days ago, while picking some plants, my PAD detected a signal coming from the Delta Station belonging to ALTERRA scientists and I decided to pay it a visit at night to avoid being seen in the surroundings.
The station was a bit far away and even with the help of the glider, the trip was a long one, so I arrived almost at dawn.
Seeing that there was no one around, I went up the same pier and immediately the cold began to affect me. Luckily, this islet in its surroundings has some hot springs and several thermal sunflowers.
I continue advancing along a path while I listen to a pre-recorded message from a person who calls herself Marguerit Maida, which makes it clear that I am not welcome and that I am entering her territory. Those words did not make me hesitate, as I did not know how old the message was and, as such, a scientist from Alterra would not refer to the station as her territory, so the poor thing was most likely suffering from dementia.
Further on I enter a cave in which I find workstations and scientific equipment, which tells me that at this station they were investigating the terrain and material resources. I pick up some supplies and several sulfide minerals that will be useful later on.
When I get out of the cave, I hear a loud noise and a huge mechanical suit piloted by Marguerit Maida appears in front of me. I had seen a mechanical suit before, but this one had something strange about it, as if its pilot had modified it with parts of some sea creatures.
At first she is very hostile towards me, but when I tell her that I don't work for ALTERRA she lets me go, although I would have really liked to talk to her. She was unable to do so, as she disappeared into the ocean in one leap.
After such a scare, it was clear to me that I was not wanted in that place, so I took my scanner in hand and headed for the research booths to grab whatever I could and get the hell out of there.
Once inside the base, I realized that it had been abandoned for a long time, so this was not Marguerit's base. Still, I was able to get several things and scan a lot of equipment that I can later create in my own base.
As I left the station I saw a huge communications tower that I wanted to visit, but the cold and the fear that the crazy woman in the suit would return made me stay away from the island. Just in case, I left the location of the island marked for when I am better equipped to return. Because if there is one thing I am sure of, it is that: I WILL RETURN....
