The strength of CO2 as a greenhouse gas is overestimated by... 2-3 orders of magnitude [ENG version]
It seems that the "scientific consensus" militia did not reach the Kenyan university in Nairobi. Someone there came up with the idea of investigating how local high concentrations of CO2 affect temperature. And it turns out that 7000 ppm (which is 16 times more than the current average content) increases the temperature by 0.3 degrees.
So, recalculating: the currently present carbon dioxide in the atmosphere (average of 420 ppm) can increase the temperature by a staggering 0.018 degrees, and doubling the amount of CO2 (which would require burning all the fossil fuel reserves on Earth) would increase it by another 0.018 degrees.
I will mention here that we can come to similar conclusions by comparing the excess temperature on Venus to the CO2 content in its atmosphere alone.
