Does Cannabis have the Potential to Help Fight Bacteria?

Researchers have previously suggested that cannabis might possibly be used to act as a sort of antibiotic because of the potential that has been shown to help fight bacteria.

A study by the University of Southern Denmark previously discovered that a combination of antibiotics and cannabis had an interesting impact, they found it could possibly enhance the antibiotic effect.

Cannabis has been used for centuries and today around the US and elsewhere there are millions of medicinal and recreational cannabis users.

Scientists are still just getting started in a sense when investigating the potential, there has been so much restriction surrounding research in this area for so many years. Still today it can be incredibly difficult to launch one cannabis study or another, depending on which region scientists are working in.

Researchers have been testing the antibacterial properties of CBD, THC, and CBG for example, to see what relationship there might be.

It looks like CBG might have been one of the best ones that they investigated but further investigation is still needed to understand more. There is arguably a lot of promise surrounding this plant.

Previously, while looking into the relationship between cannabis and gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, researchers from the University of Queensland concluded that cbd might help to potentially destroy some antibiotic-resistant bacteria and the notion is rather groundbreaking. It was allegedly the first time that CBD had been seen to impact and kill some types of gram-negative bacteria,

“This is particularly exciting because there have been no new molecular classes of antibiotics for gram-negative infections discovered and approved since the 1960s,”

Scientists looking into this have asserted that this potential for a promising new antibiotic is worth investigating.

We are still learning more each day as cannabis science continues to progress.
