CVS To Partner with UPS For Drone Delivery

There are currently over 6,000 CVS stores that are located around the United States, making it one of the most popular pharmacy destinations in the market today.

Recently, CVS Health Corporation decided to partner with UPS to work together to establish a drone delivery program that will provide service to CVS customers. UPS, along with Amazon and others, have been investing significant resources toward pursuing drone delivery in the United States and elsewhere. From lowering the cost of shipping to improving overall efficiency, there are a variety of benefits being suggested as motivation for the evolution that's taking place in the industry.

Both UPS and CVS just recently announced the joint drone venture and they are going to begin testing in at least 2 different cities in only a few weeks. Ultimately, they plan to make CVS deliveries to customers by using direct drone delivery service for items such as prescription drugs.

By next year, there could be a growing number of customers in the United States who are receiving their prescription medications and other goods by drone delivery service, and they wouldn't be the first ones.

Drones have already been busy delivering a variety of goods, from medicines and blood samples, to doughnuts, sunscreen, and other items.

Not only are they being used to deliver a wide range of goods but they are also helping emergency teams with search and rescue missions, assist with fire fighting, cleaning up after car crashes, assessing maintenance of work spaces, contributing to conservation efforts of wildlife, and more.

There have already been a number of drone deliveries around the world, including right in the United States, with the UPS drone company known as Flight Forward regularly operating drone deliveries in places like Raleigh, North Carolina.

Although CVS is moving rapidly toward drone delivery, many others are too. It's reported that Walgreens will become the first retailer in the country to test an on-demand drone delivery service. They launched that program at the end of October and Walgreens will continue that drone delivery partnership with Wing Aviation which is a subsidiary of Alphabet.

Whether they are being used to shuttle medical supplies between hospitals, or bringing life-saving equipment to people in need, looking for people who have gone missing, or cleaning up and assessing accidents and fires, there are a multitude of ways that this technology can be used to help people and improve the quality of life for many in different communities all around the world.
