Clinically Replugged

This is funny. It’s no secret that most of my friends are no longer close to reach. They’ve left the city or are not in the country all together. Same with family. Hence, we are always communicating online.
I do remember a period when I fell ill and had to be admitted in the hospital. My mom never left my side and I had her relentless support however, my phone was still beside me. I despise boredom and even if my body was weak, I needed a distraction from all the pain I was feeling. The test results said I had a high degree of typhoid & Malaria and peptic ulcer. I remember that one of my legs got paralysed even.
The pain was too much and I needed to do something. I hadn’t come across Hive then and my cousin and friends were out of town. I had my mom but she had to go to her place of business on days too. Therefore, I was alone, plugged and with nothing to do but my phone.
I would play Word games or Kitchen Fever. I wasn’t a fan of movies then and I was too proud to call anyone I knew to come send me anime because I knew (or I thought I did) that I would just get turned down. I had a laptop then that was quite rubbish and Mom would bring it to me and I would keep myself busy watching what Anime I had.
Honestly, for the two weeks I was in that position, I had no idea how heavily I came to depend on those gadgets till the day I got home. I was admitted in a private hospital (thanks to family abroad who sent money for my treatment) and there was light 24/7 all through my time there. I can’t tell if I was deceived by that or I was still woozy from all the meds but I didn’t ask my mom to plug them in that night when she came because I thought “yeah I’m leaving tomorrow”.
I was fine and was walking with my leg - with some pain still. When we got home, all through that day, NEPA showed us shege from Eve and even into the next. That was how I had to use books and sleep to re-channel my boredom and then my friends got back and they came to visit.
For three days without light, I was surrounded by people and books. I think that has to be one of the most memorable times of my life.

Books and sleep are really the best ways to survive without having gadgets. These gadgets have become a necessity to the extent that life without it is completely different from the regular we are used to
I totally agree with you. Speaking as f which, seems I've hit a read wall. My reading has dropped badly
It's funny how being without power for just a few days can make us appreciate the simple things like books and being around friends.
I can't imagine going through all that without tech, but it's cool how you found a way to make those moments memorable. I think we all underestimate how much we depend on our devices until we have to go without them.
This is very true. Time seems to fly when we are connected to technology. But take that away and it's like time is crawling

That was a great way to channel your boredom, especially looking at how you had just come from the hospital. You needed people to be around you and that sleep was definitely necessary.
Oh Deraa more hospital visits than anything else.
