RE: Comparing swimming to jogging as a calorie burning exercise

I read somewhere that 30 minutes in the pool is the equivalent of 45 minutes exercise on land. Kind of obvious really as swimming is a full body workout using around 24 muscles compared to a handful when jogging. Another factor is the weightlessness so there is no real strain on the body. Just treading water which would be the closest thing to jogging would burn more calories.

it seems like everything is coming up roses. The only pain I normally experience from swimming is my neck starts to hurt after 30 minutes because with breaststroke that is a pretty unnatural position that I am putting my neck in.
You will build up neck muscles so it will improve as time goes.
I hadn't thought about this but yes, you are probably correct
